I think you are all half way there.
The soul is your flesh, bone and blood, because Adam, the clay model, “became” a living “SOUL” when God gave him the breath of life. As has already been mentioned, you stop breathing, you die; if your dead, you are a dead soul.
Our “mind” is what Paul calls a spirit; “there is a “spirit” in man”, 1 Cor 2:11.
Why did Paul compare the mind to a spirit? spirit beings are invisible, so is our mind; it is the only invisible part of humans.
The same word for soul is also used for animals.
The confusion comes from using, body, soul, spirit and mind, interchangeable.
Body and or soul is what will die and decay; your spirit and or mind God will preserve, and put in your new body at your resurrection; you will be your old self again with all the memories from before.

what as been ,after our dead been judged?
why is it that Christ separated the soul from the flesh,?
and why is the flesh counts for nothing ?
REV 6:9 When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God, and because of the testimony which they had maintained;
REV 20:4 Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.so what is the soul ??

Georg………….You couldn't be more right brother. A living Soul is a body with life giving Spirit (INTELLECT) “IN” (IT)> Nothing More and Nothing Less.
