So which version do you prefer Nick? They all seem to have “flaws” in them, no?
May 29, 2007 at 1:30 am#53893NickHassanParticipantHi not3,
I prefer nasb but use kjv here to copy\paste as it is simpler not having all the cross references in the text.May 29, 2007 at 1:41 am#53897Not3in1ParticipantI wondered how you were so speedy in getting mass quotations in a post. Ha! Are you copying/pasting from what is available here on HeavenNet? I'll have to try that and see if it works – I'm getting savy – slowly but surely.
My kids just bought me an ESV for Mother's Day; I like it so far. When my husband reads the Bible he prefers the NAS as well. I am fond of the ASV myself. Thanks for the info.

I use the New King James Version and like it the best. Does it have error in it, yes. I believe Stu is right at least at this, that all have some error in it.

On another site you said
“PS…. the part that says “For many are called and few chosen” was added by translators and is not in the oldest manuscripts and some translatons do omit it. It obiviously doesn't belong there either.”There is no manuscript variation shown on the NIV version available here.
Can you please enlarge on this?July 26, 2008 at 12:21 am#99022NickHassanParticipantFor LU

Clearly Matthew and the other writers made an original copy of his memories.
Did they write additional copies?
Eusebius of Caesarea said he had an original copy in his library [which BTW had Mt 28.19 as”baptise in my name”]but it was lost when the library was burnt down.
Then men copied and translated them to varying degrees of accuracy.
Some older manuscripts have only been found since earlier bibles were written. Do they take precedence ?
Is every manuscript true?
Are all sources of manuscripts good ones?
Is older age a reliable proof of autheniticity?
Is age reliable?
Or is there safety in numbers and we should only believe the most common manuscripts?
Some things have only been found in more “recent” manuscripts.
Does that affect our perception of their integrity?
Nick,Did you ever find any answers to all of your questions listed here?
Thanks,

More information would be good.August 17, 2008 at 6:05 pm#101890Not3in1ParticipantI agree, Nick.
What do you think the plan of God is that we have limited information?
And the information that we have is somewhat tainted?
I wonder what we will be held accountable for and what will be tossed out, per se?
At any rate, I look forward to that Day when we will see him as he is. We will know him. Ah…just that thought thrills me from head to toe!

Hey Nick,With all due respect, I think this answer leaves too much guess work.
For instance, the JW' claim they have the Spirit, they have good works, and they certainly love to study the bible. But some here would say that they are deceived! Some won't even acknowledge them as being brother's and sister's in the Lord!
So the question again is, how do we know who has the Spirit and who doesn't? I don't think fruit alone can determine, although it's a good indicator of what is in one's heart…..
I think only the Lord knows who's are his and we shouldn't speculate or say we know who is a child of God and who isn't. This extends to those who believe you have to have a set belief system (in addition to the basic gospel) to be included in the family of God. This shouldn't be, imo.
