Hi,
Jn 1.6
“There came a man sent from God…He was not the light but he came to testify about the light”
Jn 5.33f
” You have sent to John and he has testified to the truth. But the testimony which I receive is not from man, but I say these things that you may be saved. He was the lamp that was burning and was shining, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light. But the testimony I give is greater than the testimony of John”'John was a lamp that showed the light as are all prophets.

Jesus is the Light.November 14, 2006 at 1:07 am#32390NickHassanParticipantHi,
We struggle along the pathway waiting and hoping for the inner light to grow brighter and enable us to know better the Word of truth, and to grow stronger unto eternal life.2 Peter 1
” 19We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:20Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”
2Jn 2
“20But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.21I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
22Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
23Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
24Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
25And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
26These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
27But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.”
heb 12
” 12Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;13And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. “

We must become sons of light.
Luke 16:8
“And his master praised the unrighteous manager because he had acted shrewdly; for the sons of this age are more shrewd in relation to their own kind than the sons of light.John 12:36
“While you have the Light, believe in the Light, so that you may become sons of Light ” These things Jesus spoke, and He went away and hid Himself from them.1 Thessalonians 5:5
for you are all sons of light and sons of day We are not of night nor of darkness;Christ was the light of the world.
In him was light for the life of men.
We must walk while the light is with us.January 28, 2007 at 10:14 pm#38428NickHassanParticipantHi,
Jesus came with the light of truth.
Men offer speculation and confusion.
The light is simple and pure.
Why would men prefer confusion?
John 1:9
That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.1 John 1:7
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.Ephesians 5:8
For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:John 8:12
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.Isaiah 9:2
The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.Psalm 56:13
For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?Love his words.
Therein is light.
Walk in the light of established truth.
Following theologians only means we will fall into the same pit that is their destinyFebruary 14, 2007 at 9:42 pm#40357NickHassanParticipantHi,
The Spirit is as oil.
Oil burns in lamps to give light.
Exodus 27:20
And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always.
Exodus 39:37
The pure candlestick, with the lamps thereof, even with the lamps to be set in order, and all the vessels thereof, and the oil for light,Christ means anointed one, anointed with the oil of the Spirit, burning bright to give light to the world.
We too are lamps that must not be hidden but at least visible top the world to draw men to that light.Exodus 35:8
And oil for the light, and spices for anointing oil, and for the sweet incense,April 8, 2007 at 9:29 am#48017NickHassanParticipantHi,
Christ came to bring the light of understanding to the confusion of the god of this world.
But men still prefer to scratch around looking for any possible confusion
So that they can hold up their own matchstick aglow.
Beware of the wind of death coming.
The light must overcome.May 30, 2007 at 7:11 pm#54132NickHassanParticipantHi Tim2
You said in another post
“But it doesn't matter, because as I said in my post, Jesus is the true Light. John 1:9. “
True but so was John
John 5:35
He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.
and the disciples
'Acts 13:47
For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.'
Matthew 5:14
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.Christ is for us the light and is in the light.
1 John 1:7
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.All showed the light of the given Spirit of Truth to men and the Father is the ultimate source of that light.
1 John 1:5
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.Even the gospel is light drawn of the Spirit from the Father of lights and the Word too in the same way is a lamp too our feet.
2 Corinthians 4:4
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.May 31, 2007 at 12:28 am#54173ProclaimerParticipantAll light comes from something.
The light we see in the day comes from our sun. The light at night also comes from our sun and other suns too. We use that light as we see fit.
But the light has an origin.
God is the origin of all (good).

James 1:17

July 10, 2007 at 11:39 pm#59143Mr. SteveParticipantJohn 1:4 states, “In him was life and the life was the light of men.” Jesus stated that as the Father has life in himself, so has he also “given” to the Son to have life in himself. Christ also said he was the light of the world. What we see here is the truth again that the Light originates from the Father and is given to the Son. It did not originate with Christ. Christ was given the Light because he pleased the Father in all things.

Christ was filled with light at prayer.

March 8, 2008 at 12:43 pm#83408LightenupParticipantHello all,
I have posted this in pre-existence but I think that it also belongs here:I grew up as a trinitarian and defended the doctrine when challenged. Then one day I was challenged with the verse Col 1:15-16
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.
NASUI asked God to show me what that term meant “firstborn of all creation.” I surrendered my trinitarian claims to whatever God would show me and it was like I started to read the Bible all new with a different perspective. Well, after about a month of searching scripture and looking for my answer I heard a voice speak in my left ear. Just before I heard that voice, I was reviewing with my son what happened on each day of creation because I was homeschooling him and the kindergarten curriculum was centered around the seven days of creation. I had just asked my son this question, “What happened on day one?” My son responded by saying “God said let there be light” and that is when the voice spoke to me and said “You are the light of the world”.
Now remember that I was meditating on what the “firstborn of all creation” meant for the past month and fervently, and excitedly reading scripture with a whole new perspective. When I asked my son that question I was totally focused on his schooling. I know that voice was not from me without a doubt. Anyway, when I heard the voice say that I immediately thought of Jesus being the Light of the World and that “Let there be light” was God's birthing of His Son by His word as the begotten God. So, I knew that I had to test that and I think about it everyday since. I believe that the firstborn of all creation refers to the light of day one as the begotten God, the Radiant Son of God.
Here are some verses about Jesus being the Light:
John 1:1-10
2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. 5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
6 The Witness John
There came a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe through him. 8 He was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light.
9 There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.
NASURev 21:22-24
23 And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb.
NASUJohn 8:12
Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, ” I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”
NASUSo, I remain amazed at the simplicity of all of this.

I find it amazing that most of us had to struggle with the preexsisting of Jesus. When a J.W. came to our Home and talked with us about that subject I told them no way. It took me months, but God put Co. 1;15-18 and Rev.3:14 in front of my nose. Until finally I excepted it. God is so great, how He gets us to believe something at times. That to shows me how He has called me out of this world.
