WOur interest is the truth ,the way that God REALY said it ,
Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.Matthew 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

And isn't it WONDERFUL how EASY God and Jesus have made our yoke through the internet?Isn't it GREAT how much EASIER it is to learn of Jesus from the ever-older mss that are constantly being uncovered?
Good scripture of support, Wakeup. Thank you for those.
Mike B.Not forgetting that computer technology is only one hundred
years or so. what about the christians before?
Jesus yoke was easy for them also.wakeup.

Seek spiritual knowledge with the help of the Holy Spirit.
He will guide you. Great learned theologians are still in darkness even today.wakeup.

Wakeup,So, It did not have anything to do with what I actually said or with being a rabbi scholar, though I suppose scholars of any type are wise enough to use a dictionary to better understand words.
I use dictionaries and lexicons to better understand the language of Scriptures. The source materials are more likely to be more accurate than those materials translated from them.
There are many choices and without the Spirit I would be lost. It is only the Spirit that can guide a person true.

The Spirit is the spirit of truth wherever the truth may be. If you do not know the meaning of a word you go to a dictionary to find out the meaning. A lexicon is used for foreign words. I use it because I do not trust the translators, who I know teach a doctrine that is false. The Spirit teaches the true gospel. Those who persist in remaining without knowledge are not eating Jesus' flesh or drinking his blood.
I seek to understand the words the Scripture is written in instead of seeking to willfully remain without knowledge of the truth as some do.

Not exactly but your intent is correct. The MT its origins in a group that that existed between the 7th and 10th Century. According to the same Wikipedia article quotes the words 'by showing that there was indeed a Hebrew text-type on which the Septuagint-translation was based and which differed substantially from the received MT'.

I hope All you guys here labour to be in Christ,
not to be rabi scholars.wakeup.
Wakeup,I have no idea what being a rabbi scholar has to do with anything.
Kerwin.The point here is: TIME.
While you are exploring the hebrew and greek
dictionaries, you are missing out on the real flesh of Christ.
It is only the Spirit that can guide a person true.
kERWIN.THE POINT HERE IS,THAT YOU HAVE SET UP YOUR OWN WAY TO SEEK THE TRUTH. IT WILL ONLY LEAD TO A DEAD END.
wakeup.
Wakeup,Actually I am the one that reveals the desire of the students of Jesus to hear “five words with my understanding”. You on the other-hand choose to be willfully ignorant even though Scripture warns you not to be.
Kerwin. Are you denying that you are doing it your way to seek the truth?
For you are not following instructions.
Jesus said eat my flesh to have live,my yoke is easy.
You are eating the spirit of the scholars of the dictionaries.
Untill there is no more room left for christ's flesh.wakeup.
Wakeup,You are attempting to use one passage to deny another. That is not righteous.
Kerwin.*YOU* are seeking out which word should be used in a certain sentence in scripture. *YOU* decide to make that choice. *YOU* decide how the sentence should read.
And that decision is *based* on *YOUR* precept of understanding. Not believing that it is God's responsibility to provide.
Jesus said: SEEK: And he will provide the scriptures.
He does not need YOU nor ANYBODY to provide the right book to seek him. I believe that God will draw us to read the right book. My first bible was given to me,I did not choose it,
it chose me.You say you believe in God; BELIEVE IN HIS POWER ALSO.
wakeup.
Wakeup,I was thinking I was misunderstanding your previous posts.
God can do many things but chooses not to because he tests the hearts of men. He can heal the ills of men but instead provides medical personal to strive for that goal. He can feed the poor but instead instructs us to do so.
There is the story of a man who stranded on a rooftop after a great flood kept refusing help from human rescuers because of his confidence God would rescue him. He perished and and in the land of the dead he asked Abraham why God failed to rescue him and Abraham answered and said God sent his rescuers to you many times but you refused their aid. So will it be for many on that day.
Kerwin. But the rescuer has been here all along.
And you have refused him; and say, no thank you;
your boat has got holes in it.
I'm waiting for others to rescue you.wakeup.
Wakeup,God was there for the stranded man all the time but the man was putting limitations on God that were not true. I know that Wisdom cries form many places; even from the mouth of
a high priest intent on putting Jesus to death though only those that are guided by the Spirit hear that wisdom.December 24, 2013 at 9:34 pm#366143WakeupParticipantAs you can see, there is much confusion in babylon.
(meaning confusion). Now all you can do is just take your pick which one suits you best.
The truth can not be found amongst confusion.**Believe in God and also his power to preserve His Word**.
He knows, his Word will be corrupted,He also knows how to preserve it.wakeup.

Wakeup,Yes, I understand you are confused but I am trying to help you. I was referring to an event in Scripture where the high priest spoke the word of God even though he was literally justifying Jesus' death. Do you know what Scripture that is?

John 18:14 Now Caiaphas was he, which gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.

Isn't it GREAT how much EASIER it is to learn of Jesus from the ever-older mss that are constantly being uncovered?
Mike B.Not forgetting that computer technology is only one hundred
years or so. what about the christians before?
Jesus yoke was easy for them also.wakeup.
The earliest Christians actually had those oldest and best mss to learn from. Then there were some dark times for Christians who were seeking the truth of the scriptures. First, they weren't even allowed to OWN a copy of the scriptures.
Then, when they finally were allowed to have a personal copy, it was a flawed copy, made from recent and altered mss.
And now, we are back to square one, where we as Christians can learn from the same mss the earliest Christians learned from……….. the mss WITHOUT the later alterations.
So, God has caused things to come full circle – and we are privileged to live in a time where we can take advantage of what God has done.

Sometimes, to find the various meanings of a certain Hebrew or Greek word, so I can choose for myself which is the best definition in a certain context, I just look at the many ways the KJV translated that word. For example, when trying to decide for myself whether or not the disciples of Jesus WORSHIPED him – as if they thought he was actually God Almighty Himself – I only have to look at the various ways the KJV scholars translated that word. And when I see that the KJV scholars not only translated that word as “worshiped”, but also as “did obeisance”, “bowed down before”, and “paid homage”, then I can make an INFORMED decision, all by myself, as to whether the disciples of Jesus “WORSHIPED” him, or simply “PAID HOMAGE” to him by “BOWING BEFORE” him.
See? I don't have to rely on how those KJV scholars actually TRANSLATED the word in a verse concerning Jesus, because I can see the OTHER ways those same KJV scholars also translated that same word in other verses.
So, I'm using the expertise of the KJV scholars, and then making my own informed decision.
Now surely you won't fault me for using the expertise of the KJV scholars, will you?
Btw, how do you think the KJV scholars learned which Hebrew words meant what? Do you suppose they studied the Hebrew dictionaries, and took language courses?
So why then, would you constantly try to chastise us for wanting to learn these things, when it is clear that the English speaking KJV translators also had to learn these things at some point in their lives?
Come on, Wakeup. You are making yourself look petty and lazy by chiding us for trying to learn more.

You mean like the “dead end” it led to when the KJV translators sought the truth in the same manner?December 25, 2013 at 5:36 pm#366149mikeboll64BlockedQuote (Wakeup @ Dec. 21 2013,23:37) Kerwin. *YOU* are seeking out which word should be used in a certain sentence in scripture. *YOU* decide to make that choice. *YOU* decide how the sentence should read.

Did you ever think that maybe there's a REASON God is providing this information we use?God knows that the English TRANSLATIONS of scripture are flawed and biased. So God is taking responsibility to make sure that those of us who aren't afraid of a little research can get to the TRUTH of the scriptures.
Your belief is that God took the responsibility to provide one pure English Bible…….. and therefore you have to look no further.
But the information God has made available to us PROVES that your “one pure English Bible” is anything but.
So drop out of the KJV worshipers group, and come over to the “seek out the REAL truth” group, Wakeup.

I like that story. I think Wm posted it in the “humor” thread that Kathi started. - AuthorPosts
