Hi david,
The gospel is Christ crucified. The Son of God sent to be as man, to live as we do and show us the way. He was filled with the Spirit of his Father, revealed His father to men, fulfilled the Law and was killed for our sin.
All who are reborn into him enjoy all the benefits he won for us and enjoy eternity with him and His Father. We too can be filled with that Spirit and continue his work until he returns.October 9, 2005 at 2:47 pm#9362davidParticipantThat's certainly a part of it. But what did Jesus preach while on earth? What was the theme of his message?
What is the “his work” that we can continue until he returns?October 9, 2005 at 7:37 pm#9363NickHassanParticipantHi david,
Jesus preached the kingdom of God that is entered through baptism into his death and being raised to life in the Spirit. It reaches it's fulfillment with the first resurrection into the millenium.
You believe only 144,000 JWs have this privilege do you not and you strive and compete to be one of them-am I right?October 11, 2005 at 1:28 am#9394davidParticipantNo, you're not right. You are quite wrong. Very, very wrong. Well, about that last sentence that is. Very wrong.
October 11, 2005 at 1:32 am#9395NickHassanParticipantHi david,
Ok I got that wrong. So who is saved then and how many in the first resurrection and how do you say you join that throng? What is the advantage of being a JW or is there none?October 11, 2005 at 6:01 am#9437davidParticipantIf you were a follower of Jesus living in the first century and someone asked you “what is the advantage of being a Christian,” what would you tell him?
Well, my answer would be similar to your responce.
October 11, 2005 at 5:53 pm#9440NickHassanParticipantHi david,
So JWs are the only true Christians, their walk the only way?October 11, 2005 at 8:07 pm#9442davidParticipantWhy do you so often answer questions with question?
October 11, 2005 at 8:34 pm#9447NickHassanParticipantHi david,
We are facilitators. We stir the pot and encourage people to search and think more deeply so they can teach themselves. We learn and perhaps if others put aside their doctrinal shields and barriers they too will see the light shining from the Word of God. Every little bit of growth helps the kingdom.April 9, 2006 at 10:59 pm#12567NickHassanParticipantWhat gospel are men preaching?
April 18, 2006 at 7:26 pm#12837NickHassanParticipantHi ,
The biblical unitarian religion teaches that salvation is on the basis of faith alone based on Romans 10.
Who were the words of Romans addressed to?
The unsaved, or the saved?Romans 1.7
“To who are beloved of God in Rome, called as saints”It is written to the saved so is not the gospel of salvation.
It was written to those who had gone through the gate and were in Christ. These Jewish converts, as with the Galatians, were having doubts about the new way and were strongly tempted to try to go back to attempt their own way of salvation through legal observance rather than following Christ.
So what does this say about the biblical unitarian doctrine?
It is a false gospel.

ONE TEA SPOON AT A TIME.April 26, 2006 at 5:47 am#12942NickHassanParticipantHi Berean 2005,
Of course when death is not qualified it refers to the first death. This is thrown into the Lake of fire, which is the second death for men.
The second death is entirely another story.

Hi david,
To the Idolatrous Gentile Athenians Paul preached God.Heb 11.6
“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him”To those who knew God he preached the next step, Jesus, the only way to God.
Most men are like the Athenians.

Well when Paul stood up on Mars hill to address these Athenians he began by referring to something they were familiar with, one of their many gods. It lays within man to desire to worship something. So true he starts off with God, because these men were clearly not Atheists, they believed in God or gods or whatever.
So he starts with this, but he then brings it to Jesus Christ, introduces the way that you Go from worshipping an unknown God, an impersonal God that you perhaps know much about. He takes them from this to a personal knowledge of God through Jesus Christ His Son.
So I don't see where he preached only God to them, waiting for a future time to preach Jesus…April 27, 2006 at 2:06 am#12977NickHassanParticipantQuite so Malcolm,
Thanks. He did lead them on to Christ [or tried] having started with gods and God.April 27, 2006 at 5:17 am#12990davidParticipantQuote Well when Paul stood up on Mars hill to address these Athenians he began by referring to something they were familiar with, Of course it's wonderful to start by talking with someone about something you have in common with them. It puts them at ease.
Paul told us to become imitators of him. (1 cor 4:16; 11:1; phil 3:17)Are we to stand on a hill and preach? What I'm really asking is: how do we reach the people? Who do you choose to preach to?
April 27, 2006 at 7:06 am#12996davidParticipantAnd more importantly, how did the early Christians preach?
April 27, 2006 at 10:37 am#13005NickHassanParticipantHi david,
They revealed the Son of God sent from heaven to be the saviour of the world. They healed the sick and set free the oppressed just as their Master had done as it was the compassionate will of God to do so. They revealed the OT secrets to the Jews and preached in confident faith allowing the Spirit within them to do His work.Always one or two responded.
