    those three things are the composition of a human being ,but what are they in reality ? according to the scriptures ?

    THE FLESH WE ALL KNOW THAT IT  IS ;FOR WE ARE FORMED FROM HUMANS AND SO HAVE ALL THE CONFIGURATION OF MEN ,AND GO FROM BIRTH TO DEAD AND DUST ,ALL BY THE WILL OF MEN THROUGH THE WILL OF GOD THAT  MADE IT POSSIBLE ,

    WHAT ABOUT THE “SPIRIT OF MAN” ?

    To all,

    I know the words spirit and soul each have more that one definition and from what I have read each of them employ more than one in Scripture. I have observed the flesh also does the same.

    I believe you are speaking of the tripartite nature view of man as flesh, soul, and spirit. There is also the bipartite nature view of man as body and spirit where the spirit is composed of both the spirit and soul. I use both of them as I do not see where they must be in conflict. As far as I can see Scripture does the same.

    hi Gene

    1CO 6:17 But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him.  WHAT IS IT IN MAN THAT CAN JOIN WITH  THE lORD ? IS IT NOT THE SPIRIT /MIND/HEART OF MAN ? YES

    MT 10:28 “Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

    NOW WE ALL KNOW THE FLESH TURN TO DUST AND MEN CAN KILL MEN BUT CAN MEN KILL THE SOUL OF MEN ? NO ,NOT ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES ;

    NOW ;Ge 2:7 And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

    TELL ME GENE WHAT WAS ADAM BEFORE HE RECEIVED THE BREATHED INTO HIS NOSTRILS ? WAS HE A  LIVING SOUL ? OR NOT

    PLEASE USE SCRIPTURES

    you say;{man as body and spirit where the spirit is composed of both the spirit and soul. I use both of them as I do not see where they must be in conflict. As far as I can see Scripture does the same.}

    yes that is true ,for the spirit of men is his own mind and heart ,thoughts ,wills.desires,dreams,ect and his soul being the true marks of his spirit ,the things that he will not change ,and live by , which by God will judge us all

    the flesh being the vehicle of them both ,and so until the flesh dies all things we can change in our soul  ,

    also understand that the breath God is given to Adam through his nostrils (this means the flesh  not the spirit of Adam ) it is like gien a car some gas to run the motor

    To the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in the truth—and not I only, but also all who know the truth—
    2Jn 1:2 because of the truth, which lives in us and will be with us forever:

    if our soul does not live or is imprinted with the truth  how then can we be able to live forever ?

    T,

    I believe the soul is the part of a human that either hungers and thirst for righteousness or loves darkness.

    You can see that in this passage.

    Psalm 42[a]
    For the director of music. A maskil[c] of the Sons of Korah.

    1 As the deer pants for streams of water,
    so my soul pants for you, my God.

    The spirit feeds the soul as is demonstrated in this verse by the fruit of the Spirit which feeds those that hunger and thirst for righteousness.

    Galatians 5:22-23New International Version (NIV)

    22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

    YOUR SCRIPTURES ARE THE TALK OF A RIGHTEOUS ONE ; IF NOT THIS WOULD BREAK THIS SCRIPTURES ;

    MAL 3:14 “You have said, ‘It is vain to serve God; and what profit is it that we have kept His charge, and that we have walked in mourning before the LORD of hosts?
    MT 6:24 “ No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.

    JOB 5:8
    “But as for me, I would seek God,

    PS 5:7 But as for me, by Your abundant lovingkindness I will enter Your house,
    At Your holy temple I will bow in reverence for You.

    PS 26:11 But as for me, I shall walk in my integrity;
    Redeem me, and be gracious to me.

    PS 31:14
    But as for me, I trust in You, O LORD,
    I say, “ You are my God.”

    As for me, I said, “O LORD, be gracious to me;
    Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You.”

    Jos 8:34 Afterward, Joshua read all the words of the law—the blessings and the curses—just as it is written in the Book of the Law.
    Jos 8:35 There was not a word of all that Moses had commanded that Joshua did not read to the whole assembly of Israel, including the women and children, and the aliens who lived among them.

    Jos 24:15 But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”

    Jn 3:18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

    ALL THOSE SCRIPTURES SHOWS A CHOICE WE ALL FACE ;

    WHAT GOES ON BEING WRITTEN ON OUR SOUL IS THE FINAL DECISION WE MAKE

    T,

    Psalm 41:4Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

    4 I said, Lord, be merciful unto me:
    heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.

    Psalm 42[a](NIV)
    For the director of music. A maskil[c] of the Sons of Korah.

    1 As the deer pants for streams of water,
    so my soul pants for you, my God.

    These two seem to contradict each other but as you say Scripture cannot be broken so when interpreted correctly they agree with one another.

    The one thing I see is it does not say what the wound is that the soul has suffered is except it is linked to having sinned.

    One possibility is that the some English versions disagree with the wording of the AV of the KJV on Psalms 41:4.

    Psalm 41:4New International Version (NIV)

    4 I said, “Have mercy on me, Lord;
    heal me, for I have sinned against you.”

    Psalm 41:4New English Translation (NET Bible)

    4 As for me, I said:
    “O Lord, have mercy on me!
    Heal me, for I have sinned against you!

    The difference is some choose the definition of soul when it means the whole person and the AV of the KJV does not. That could be true of either verse so it does not resolve the dilemma.

    Perhaps you have more to add.

    Ps 41:1 Blessed is he who has regard for the weak;
    the LORD delivers him in times of trouble.
    Ps 41:2 The LORD will protect him and preserve his life;
    he will bless him in the land
    and not surrender him to the desire of his foes.
    Ps 41:3 The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed
    and restore him from his bed of illness.

    Ps 41:4 I said, “O LORD, have mercy on me;  THIS HIS DAVID THE KING ; BUT ALMOST ALL THE REST OF THE PSALM 41 CAN BE APPLIED TO CHRIST
    heal me, for I have sinned against you.”
    Ps 41:5 My enemies say of me in malice,
    “When will he die and his name perish?”
    Ps 41:6 Whenever one comes to see me,
    he speaks falsely, while his heart gathers slander;
    then he goes out and spreads it abroad.

    Ps 42:1 As the deer pants for streams of water,
    so my soul pants for you, O God.
    Ps 42:2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
    When can I go and meet with God?
    Ps 42:3 My tears have been my food
    day and night,
    while men say to me all day long,
    “Where is your God?”
    Ps 42:4 These things I remember
    as I pour out my soul:
    how I used to go with the multitude,
    leading the procession to the house of God,
    with shouts of joy and thanksgiving
    among the festive throng.

    Ps 42:5 Why are you downcast, O my soul?
    Why so disturbed within me?
    Put your hope in God,
    for I will yet praise him,
    my Savior and
    Ps 42:6 my God.

    THE PS42  SEEM TO BE WRITTEN AS A PROPHECY OF JESUS ;

    T,

    Some passages have the word soul used in place of desire, for example Exodus 15:9 and Exodus 23:9.

    Soul’s are also said to sin, for example Leviticus 6:2, Leviticus 5:17.

    That sounds like some souls are conflicted where they desire to do all that is righteous while they also commit sins. The two actions to not match and so they want to be healed.

    THAT IS TRUE ;FOR THE SOUL IS US  ,FOR IT CONTAINS ALL OF OUR DESIRES,WILLS,AND ALL THE THOUGHTS THAT MAKE US WHO WE REALLY ARE ,

    SEE OUR SPIRIT /MIND ,AND HEART ARE THE  PARTS THAT MAKE US DRIVE AND DO THE THINGS WE WANT TO DO ,AND OUR SOUL IS THE REGISTER THAT RECORD ALL THOSE THINGS WHEN WE MAKE THEM PERMANENT ,BY OUR OWN WORDS ,

    AND YES FROM THEN ON IF WE SIN IN A PERMANENT WAY THEN IT IS IN OUR SOUL AND IT BECOMES  US AND SO OUR SOUL HAS BECOME  A SINNER ,THIS IS WHY IT SAYS IN SCRIPTURES “THE SOUL THAT SINS WILL DIE ”

    THIS IS WHY WE HAVE TO MAKE SURE THAT WHAT WE DO IS WHAT WE WANT FOR THAT WE WILL BE JUDGED ,

    ONLY DEATH PUT A STOP TO ALL POSSIBLE CHANGES TO OUR SOUL ; THIS IS WELL DOCUMENTED BY JESUS PARABLE  OF THE LAZARUS AND THE RICH MAN ,

    THEIR IS NO CONFLICT IN THOSE SCRIPTURES , ALL IS TRUTH ,

    if we keep the words of the scriptures so that “GOD IS FOUND TRUTHFUL “THEN YOU ALSO HAVE FOUND TRUTH IN THEM

    To all…….The soul is the complete person. A body with the breath of life in it. The word soul never means just a part of a person as false religion teaches. Scripture say when you die your soul will see coruption, that is the complete you, nothing left, the spirit goes back to God who gave it in the first place the rest is gone forever and unless the body is resurrected and the breath of life added back ,otherwise you simple will remain dead forever. It is absolutely crucial we all attain unto the resurection in order to live again after we die.

    If God did not resurrect Jesus from his grave he still would be dead to this very day. But God did not allow his soul to see corruption by resurrecting him before his body decomposed, because Jesus committed no sin and so scripture says God would not allow his soul (body) to see corruption.

    Peace and love to you all……………..gene

    If only you could show scriptures support to your opinions

    , so we could see truth from scriptures, and not only see your opinion

    Terricca……..Good trick, this only proves you simply do not know scriptures or you would know what I said was scripturial.

    Psa16:10…> for you will not leave my “SOUL” in hell (the grave); neither will you suffer your Holy One to see “CORRUPTION”.

    Now add that to what I said and maybe you can begin to understand it.

    Peace and love to you and yours……………gene

    Ps 16:10 because you will not abandon me to the grave,
    nor will you let your Holy One see decay.

    this is talking about Christ ;but understand that when Christ died his flesh was gone and death , his soul what is the being Jesus Christ ,did not stay or was abandoned for three days later he was resurrected  and his body did not see decay for he took it back ,

    but we are not Christ unless you are but I am not ,

    so it was not a good trick ,just you misunderstanding
