Mike……….Remember also Man was allowed to eat of all trees in the Garden “except” the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. So they had access to the “tree of Life” also, it was not prevented from them until after they disobeyed God. So they could have lived forever the way they were if they were allowed to eat of the tree of life Just as they were. IMO

The LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
The tree of life was NEVER mentioned to adam.
What is this fruit tree that can give everlasting life?
How can a fruit give everlasting life?Is that tree not the man we call Jesus, after he was made flesh? For only through him we can have everlasting life.??
