The teaching of the Trinity is not in Scripture

you deny the preexistence of Jesus – maybe we can start there…

I gave you three Scriptures that directly speak of this..

Philippians 2:6 – “who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped.”

John 17:5 – “Now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.”

John 1:1,2 – “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.”

Because you deny that John is speaking of Jesus, I will include verse 10 & 11:

” He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him.”

These three Scriptures form a witness that confirms the truth of Jesus’ preexistence – yet according to your wisdom you would teach otherwise..?

    Hi davidl,

    Not two individuals.

God is Spirit. The Spirit of Christ is of the Spirit of God. The Spirit is one.

    Eph 2.22

“..in whom you are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit”

    Eph 3.17

” …so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith..’

    Eph 4.4

“There is one body and one Spirit…”

    Hi Davidl,

Take the thick trinity specs off and you will see that the Unity of Father and Son is in the One Spirit.

God is never separate from His Spirit.

God is never separate from His Spirit.

John testified saying, “I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him.

    Hi Davidl,

    Yes God is in heaven.

“Our Father, which art in heaven..”

So all of the works of God on earth are done by His Spirit.

    So when scripture says

“God is at work in you to will and to do”

It does not speak of God leaving heaven to do so.

To lie to the Spirit is to lie to God.[Acts5]

    Hi BD,

Amazing how any verse you read tells you of a babylonian trinity.

Jesus never taught about it but you cannot stop doing so.

    There is none.

    Hi davidl,

    Jesus is our teacher.

But you wish to push him aside as one who can see more in scripture than he can?

    David,

Philippians 2:6 – “who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped.”

I do not believe God has an outer form as he existed before he created space and if there is no space there is no outer form. That is why he is called the invisible God.

God does have inner form and that form is his true righteousness and holiness. Jesus the Anointed of God has always born that form since his conception. Those bear the form of God do not regard equality with God as a thing to be grasped but instead they make themselves nothing by taking the form of a servant. These individuals are made in the likeness of humans, angels, or living creatures as determined by God.

    DavidL,

John 17:5 – “Now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.”

This is Jesus asking God to fulfill what the plan God has had for Jesus since before the world began. Romans 8:29-30 speaks of believers in much the same way. If we are convinced that God knows all things we know these things without being told.

    DavidH,

” He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him.”

We have the abstract concept of the Word of God personalized as a male. I believe Philo, the Jew, did the same thing as John, the Jew, does here providing that “he” is the correct translation. Solomon personalized the abstract concept of the Wisdom of God in Proverbs as well.

You already should know the house of Israel is the house of God’s word. The Jews were his own when the Word of God took on the characteristics of humanity.

Jesus is the incarnation of the abstract concept of God’s word. He is essentially a walking, talking, and performing version of scripture that makes the bible resemble a crudely drawn two dimensional sketch of the word of God. He is the first servant that God has chosen to give his Spirit to in such a way that he can choose and does choose to continuously walk by its teachings. Before Jesus the best servants of God spoke as they were carried along by the Spirit but they had only the flesh to walk by. That is why Abraham and other godly humans looked forward to Jesus’ day.

The house of Israel rejected him even though the OT testifies of him and they have looked forward for his coming since before the time of King David. They rejected him because they have not been looking forward to him with Spiritual eyes.

thank you Nick for clarifying. I have never known there to be any other spirit then one truth.

perhaps the power of the spirit is where some depict there are many spirits?

many spirits aren’t good Nick, tends one to think legion is lurking it’s head up and saying hey, look at me I am three isn’t that what you believe. freaky!

“This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” (notice – “the only true God AND Jesus Christ”…two that are one.)

lol DavidL. I see your reasoning tacks on the end the words, “the two are one” when it doesn’t say that.

This is your bias kicking in.

Read it again. It speaks of the only true God, and another who is Jesus Christ. Simple as that. No need to complicate it to give more room for twisting it.

Yes they are one as written elsewhere, no one is denying that, they are one just as we can be one and one with both God and his son. Jesus prayed that we could be one too? Was he praying that we could be God?

I will give you a little story in the next post that is relevant to how you view scripture.

Q: How do you get vinegar from a sponge?

A: You first soak the sponge in vinegar.

This is how you get the Trinity out of scripture.

    Hi t8

Q: How do you get vinegar from a sponge?

A: You first soak the sponge in vinegar.

This is how you get the Trinity out of scripture.

brilliant, because you can’t possible conceive of a trinity without first being somehow indoctrinated that there is such a thing, this doesn’t mean DavidL has to be a Catholic he would just have had to be exposed to trinitarians whether they were practicing Catholics or not, It is preached all the time, I often hear people speak about God in this way, mostly people who don’t actually study so if someone thinks I need to get religious or spiritual their sponge(brain) already been soaked in vinegar(Trinity) so that everything they see becomes trinity, there is no regard for punctuation or conjuction, logic, reason, literacy, you just can’t get anything else from it:

    Luke 5:39
No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.

When Jesus says in St.John 14:23″we will come unto you” he’s referring to the Father and himself.
John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him
    And he says
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
So if the Father is a spirit and the Son is a spirit yet these two are made one by another spirit, then this sounds just like trinitarian teaching to me.There are three and these three are”we”yet are one at the same time.
