SF……….Jesus was using the physical example of a spiritual principle, He was talking about the eye of you understanding is it Evil or Good the evil is darkness the Good is light. remember Jesus spoke many thing in a comparative or parabolic language we need to be careful to get what his intended spiritual meanings are. We can not take every thing Jesus said in a physical literial sense. Light in scripture is just another way of saying MENTAL UNDERSTANDING. IMO

Here is what you orginal said Gene
and why i disagree with your usage of the biblical veresQuote …The light bulb is useless if there is no electric feeding it. So are we if the Spirit is not giving us our light or thoughts then we cease to exist. Just as electricity always returns its source so does the Spirit of GOD. It goes back to him who generates it in the first place. Jesus said “If that light in you be darkness how great is that darkness, another word like a variable light switch how great is that light in the room is it just dim or bright that varies from person to Person. IMO Here is the difference in what you said compared to scripture.
Jesus spoke about light yes.
but you also used the body as a literal example about our lifes in general. Therefore he said if the “way” the “source” that allows the light in is sick, how great is the darkness.
We know he was talking about the human eye.
the best way to interpret this is to say, its either that you have light, or you do not have light.
Its that simple. Its either all light, or all darkness.

And isn't it a “heart light”?Rev 22:1 Then he showed me a river of the water of life(JC = living water), clear as crystal, “coming from” the throne of God and of the Lamb (Source = God and Lamb),

The heart is diceitfully wicked,
Who can know it?August 27, 2010 at 5:28 pm#214127davidbfunParticipantDennison,
You are correct in saying that the heart is deceitful and wicked…but, for the natural man.
Gen 8:21 The LORD smelled the soothing aroma; and the LORD said to Himself, “I will never again curse the ground on account of man, for the intent of man's heart is evil from his youth; and I will never again destroy every living thing, as I have done.
But God's Spirit is the source of all things….including life.
1Cr 2:11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God.

The spirit you speak of Comes from Christ.
we have a Cranal mind that serves the Law of sin,
a Wicked heart that no one knows, only God can discern our intentions and our evil imaginations. Though by ourselves we are in compelete Darkness, because our eyes are shut, therefore no light enters our body, our soul. but THrough Christ we can serve the law of God, and have the Spirit of Christ in us, so that we may be Children of God. Therefore we are either children of darkness, or of light.Romans 7:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
from 15-21- Man desires to do Good, but cannot. And what they try, becomes evil.Romans 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
We receive another way, a way to be free that wars with the law of sinRomans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
How God freed us from this law that made nothing perfect but the hope of a better testament didRomans 8:14For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
We become Children of God.Romans 8:27And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
And by that manner does God know the mind of the Spirit, which in turn we become children of light for that spirit that its in us, intercedes that we have light in us.August 29, 2010 at 8:30 pm#214408terrariccaParticipantall
