Site was down

Apologies for the site being down for 18 or so hours. I didn’t notice it till later in the day.

The message you would have got was ‘Account Suspended’. So I made a call to the Host and they couldn’t see any reason as to why my hosting account was suspended so rectified the situation.

However, they did point out that the site was using quite a lot of server processing power and advised me to use more caching. While I had done that in the past it caused some issues with posts not showing up till the next day, so people were double posting thinking the first one did not go through.

I have reconfigured the caching with caution and everything still seems to work okay.

Please let me know if any issues crop up that could be related to caching.

I am getting the same message about resources that I was getting before the site went down.

I also received this message:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator at [email protected] to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

It does run slow and I had internal server error occur again today.

The site strains server resources, but to me, the main problem is the host (server).  I think I have 2 more years worth of hosting paid in advance so I am not in a hurry to walk away and choose someone else. But I certainly know who I will move to next time, but for now, I am going to try more caching and other tricks to speed the site up. Could even disable some features that are hardly used too.

Will see how I go. If it continues to be slow, then will have to shell out some cash for another server.
