Also, I could never be made righteous through the Law because I can not keep all of the Law without violating it if only inadvertently, but faith without works is dead. Without the blood of Jesus I could never overcome sin and death.

ParticipantHi Nick:
Jesus was a Jew, and as a born again believer I am a member of his body. Is there one “Law” or gospel to the Jew and another to the gentile nations? He said the Sabbath was made for man. He did not say anything about it being for the Jew only.

Participant942767,
James was addressing ignorant and corrupt humans who chose to misinterpret Paul’s words that righteousness that was by faith was an image of righteousness and not the reality.
Paul was instead teaching that doing all that is right comes by faith in Jesus Christ from first to last. If a person has such faith then the deeds of righteousness will follow because they are walking according to the Spirit. The deeds do not come first as is done by those that seek to live by the Law.
So you can keep all the righteous requirements of Law but only by walking according to the Spirit and that is done by faith.

So who is your master?
Which do you serve?
You cannot serve two.

ParticipantHi KW:
As the Apostle Peter stated, sometimes it is difficult to understand the Apostle Paul. He said this:
Romans 3
28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.29 Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:
30 Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.
31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
(That is to say that if anyone, Jew who has been keeping the Law or gentile who has not, come to God with a repentant heart believing that God has given His uniquely begotten Son to be the propitiation for our sins from the ministry of Jesus on earth until his coming for the church, he will be saved, but being saved with a repentant heart means that you have stated that you will obey the commandments that have come from God through Jesus. And so, in the body of Christ, the Apostle Paul states that we establish the Law.)

ParticipantHi 94,
Jesus has fulfilled the requirements of the law for you if you are in his body.
Do you doubt this or can you not accept this gift?

ParticipantHi Nick:
And so, what two are you implying that I am serving? The question would be who are you serving if you are not obeying His commandments?
This is what the book of 1 John 2 has to say on the subject:
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

ParticipantHi 94,
Whose commandments?
The ten or the commands of Lord Jesus?
January 25, 2016 at 6:43 pm#807876kerwin
ParticipantTerrarica,
I have heard that and it may be true but it is self evidence when you are discussing godly love. That would be a-gap-ee love spelled agape. Jesus may also have meant love between siblings and companions which is philia but I doubt that. In Matthew 22:29 it is agape.

ParticipantMarty,
Yes, Romans 3 is hard to understand.

ParticipantTerrarica,
1 Corinthians 13:4-8a New English Translation (NET Bible)
4 Love is patient, love is kind, it is not envious. Love does not brag, it is not puffed up. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-serving, it is not easily angered or resentful. 6 It is not glad about injustice, but rejoices in the truth. 7 It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never ends…

(And so, Just do as Jesus did and as he said, and you will be obeying the Ten Commandments. He stated that he did not come to change the Law but to fulfill it, and he did that by obeying God without sin even unto death on the cross)
