    Hi All,

1978 years ago tonight, Jesus sat calmly with the Apostles and enjoyed the passover meal.

He later went to the mountain and prayed with real human fear about what was to happen next.

Then he was ridiculed, tortured and placed upon a stake to die a slow and painful death for us.

I just wanted to express my hope that we all take a moment to “do this in remembrance of him”.  After all, it was the only thing Jesus ever asked for himself.  All else he asked was for the glory of his God.

Remember that this night wasn't about Easter Bunnies and eggs and chocolate.  It was about a man who knew there was no greater gift one could give than to lay down his own life in behalf of others.

May the peace and grace of God be with you all

    Hi Mike,
Is today Passover according to the Jewish calendar? You made a good post. At church this morning, the message was on the Messiah being the suffering servant and how He entered Jerusalem on the colt and how that was prophesied way ahead of time. We also had a great time of singing and had communion. Church was packed out!

Peace and grace be with you too dear friend!

Greetings Kathi….The calander you speak of is not a Jewish calander,it is Gods sacred calender consisting of 360 days with each new day commencing at sundown…The Jews or the remenants of the tribes of Judah, the preists of Levi and Benjimen are the only people who still follow this calender and the Holy days it depicts of which Passover is one….These holy days were given to every one of which the lost tribes are part….

    Mike,
At twilight/dusk on the 14th day of the month of Nisan the lamb was slain (April 18th, 2011) I believe that Jesus died at the same time as the lambs were slaughtered.

    My opinion – Wm

Greetings ST….. I agree and the 14th day is very significant because orthodox Jewery celebrates starting sundown of the 15th day….

    Hi All,

I don't know as much about it as Theo and Wm do.  I was going by the JW's memorial, which is always the night of Nisan 14th.  This was on Yahoo! today when I logged on; maybe it is of interest to someone?

LONDON (AFP) – Christians have long celebrated Jesus Christ's Last Supper on Maundy Thursday but new research released Monday claims to show it took place on the Wednesday before the crucifixion.

Professor Colin Humphreys, a scientist at the University of Cambridge, believes it is all due to a calendar mix-up — and asserts his findings strengthen the case for finally introducing a fixed date for Easter.

Humphreys uses a combination of biblical, historical and astronomical research to try to pinpoint the precise nature and timing of Jesus's final meal with his disciples before his death.

Researchers have long been puzzled by an apparent inconsistency in the Bible.

While Matthew, Mark and Luke all say the Last Supper coincided with the start of the Jewish festival of Passover, John claims it took place before Passover.

Humphreys has concluded in a new book, “The Mystery Of The Last Supper”, that Jesus — along with Matthew, Mark and Luke — may have been using a different calendar to John.

“Whatever you think about the Bible, the fact is that Jewish people would never mistake the Passover meal for another meal, so for the Gospels to contradict themselves in this regard is really hard to understand,” Humphreys said.

“Many biblical scholars say that, for this reason, you can't trust the Gospels at all. But if we use science and the Gospels hand in hand, we can actually prove that there was no contradiction.”

In Humphreys' theory, Jesus went by an old-fashioned Jewish calendar rather than the official lunar calendar which was in widespread use at the time of his death and is still in use today.

This would put the Passover meal — and the Last Supper — on the Wednesday, explaining how such a large number of events took place between the meal and the crucifixion.

It would follow that Jesus' arrest, interrogation and separate trials did not all take place in the space of one night but in fact occurred over a longer period.

Humphreys believes a date could therefore be ascribed to Easter in our modern solar calendar, and working on the basis that the crucifixion took place on April 3, Easter Day would be on April 5.

I myself have never heard anything about this discrepancy with John's Gospel before, and apparently haven't noticed it when reading the Bible.  Goes to show I have much to learn yet.  :)

Yes, according to Gods Calendar on April 14 is Passover.  We have a Rye Study Bible and in the footnotes we have all of Gods Months listed and when all of Gods Holy Days are.  We used to keep the Passover in the World Wide Church of God too.  I must say, we including Cindy our Daughter enjoyed those days.  At that time we didn't understand the New Covenant ad thought it was wrong not to keep the Sabbath.
We still don/t keep Easter or Christmas.  We were invited by the JW Witnesses for the Passover.  Georg did go one year.  He was rather taken back that only the anointed by them, took of the bread and wine…..In the W.W.Church we did….and I believe we could.  What do you say Mike??  I want to add, It is not that Jesus died on good Friday.  It is on the day before the Days of the Feast of the Unleavened bread. The first day is a High Day, and they had to hurry up to get Jesus burried, before sundown on Wednesday night.  And on Saturday before sundown Jesus was risen from the death.  Then when Maria and Maria Magdalene came early on Sunday morning Jesus was gone…..

    Hi Irene,

Funny you should bring that up. :) My sister texted me yesterday pleading for me to come to the Kingdom Hall last night. I texted back that I would only embarrass her by eating of the flesh and drinking of the blood. I told her it would not make sense for me to go and then not do what Jesus asked us to do in remembrance of him.

So, we're going to have a discussion about why the JW's think “only the anointed” are allowed to partake.

I'll let you know how it goes after said discussion takes place.

Great, I love you Brother, how interesting. You are not at all like they are. I wish and pray that Jesus comes soon to set all straight. It is so interesting that the only mentioned in the bible to keep is Jesus dead, and nobody keeps it the right way…..

Mike!  Let me tell yiu what happened the year when Georg went to the Kingdom Hall for Passover.  They passed the Bread around and Georg took a piece.  The Elder who invited Georg shoo His head, and took the bread from Georg and put it in His Suit packet.  Georg wa shocked.  so this year, He came again, and invited us.  I asked Him why they did that.  He could not answer us and all He did is shake is head.  I know He will come again to convince us to join them, but I will have a real good answer for Him, if my dear Husband lets me talk.  :D :D :D

    Hi Irene,

I am interested in hearing her out, as I have learned a lot from my family, many of whom are Witnesses.  They have scripturally set me straight on a few things, while other things they tried to explain using only their conjecture…………..which I didn't agree with.

But my sister is the most bubbly person I've ever met in my life.  She is hilariously funny, sensitive, caring, and I can almost literally see the Spirit of God radiating from her.  Really!  She is that “flawless” in her day to day life, and has been that way from a young age.  :)

I make an effort to be more like her, usually to no avail. :)  But I'll let you know what scriptures she shows as support for her understanding that only the anointed are allowed to partake.

    peace and love,

Mike!  The two man that still come to our House are getting much nicer.  Especially a black man, that mostly listens to the Elder that comes with Him.  Georg loves to talk about Prophecy, and they are trying to convince Georg that God is done with Israel.  Georg disagrees with that, and has studied it ever since He retired 8 years ago.  He watches Ancient History and has a good memory.
That has gone on now for at least three years.
I can see the love they too have in their eyes for God, now….
Jack and James will come again I am sure….what I like that they never ever get angry….even though they disagree….. I wish some members here would be like that too….

    Hi Irene,

I think they should read Romans 11 if they think that.  :)

Mike! Hope that Georg will show them Romans 11. Every time Georg shows them a Scripture to prove they are wrong, it doesn't matter . The Elder just gets another Scripture which has nothing to do with Israel. And then there is Rev. 7, from every tribe. I just laugh it of.
I used to get angry here too. Praying to God has helped me somewhat. I now talk it out with Georg. The reason He does not post any longer, is that most here know it all…. It doesn't matter to them either what Scripture you put too them…. Oh well, can't win them all…..keep up the good work, I like your post…..
