Hi KW,
Yes God can make these stones cry out.
But we should not go looking for such stones in our effort to find truth.
It is first found in the mouth of Jesus and the apostles and prophets-it is written in the word of God.
Dim reflections in the words of carnal philosophers can easily deceive.
January 3, 2016 at 10:15 am#806913NickHassanParticipantHi,
Certainly if you cannot hear the voice of the Spirit in the words of Jesus it is an attractive option to believe a man pre-existed.
But you would have to say he was not a normal man led by that Spirit.
But surely you know that voice?

January 3, 2016 at 10:46 am#806916NickHassanParticipantHi ED,
Do you stand by your theory that all pre-exist?
Or has your understanding of prophetic word clarified the matter?
January 3, 2016 at 11:06 am#806917kerwinParticipantNick,
You are babbling as you are speaking words without knowledge.
I can tell because you are ignoring what Scripture states and voicing your own opinion.
Your next post shows knowledge so I am assume post I answered here was spoken before you thought about it.

Yes, you are understanding.
But we should not go looking for such stones in our effort to find truth.
That is not written as you seek the truth wherever it is.
It is first found in the mouth of Jesus and the apostles and prophets-it is written in the word of God.
They have left their words but they are not here to correct misunderstandings. That is the job of those that understand. The truth can only be understood with the guidance of the Spirit; even if it is spoken by unbelievers.
January 3, 2016 at 1:16 pm#806922NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
The Lord left us the truth of the living word with witnesses in scripture to be found by those who search.
We are not advised to seek truth in the mouths of confused philosophers.
Who do you serve?

The truth is in Scripture but that does not mean we need nothing else to understand it for if you do not speak the language or understand its way of speech then it is useless to you.
In fact Scripture does tell us to seek the truth wherever it may be found.

Wisdom crieth without;
she uttereth her voice in the streets:January 3, 2016 at 7:49 pm#806927NickHassanParticipantHi KW ,
Scripture also warns of the smooth words of the seductress stealing souls in proverbs 5-7
Beware the philosopher’s half truths and lies.
January 3, 2016 at 7:54 pm#806929kerwinParticipantNick,
Yes, test the truth of what is heard in the streets and by the ways. It may be wisdom speaking or it may be foolishness speaking. We are to learn to accept the former and reject the later.
January 3, 2016 at 7:57 pm#806930NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Why admire those who depart from revelation and indulge in dangerous speculation?
January 3, 2016 at 9:04 pm#806935kerwinParticipantNick,
Philo is not speculating about the logos. Rather he is being poetic in describing it. I have not yet found a claim that Scripture as far as the Logos is concerned. His poetic style of conversation is similar to John’s.
January 3, 2016 at 9:38 pm#806936NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
John was anointed.
Philo is a charlatan.
January 4, 2016 at 4:43 am#806939kerwinParticipantNick,
Philo was no different than you.
That is irrelevant.
What is whether claims he made are true.
The same is true of what you say and what John wrote. We hold that John’s writing is inspired by God. If the all that is true is inspired by God then so is some of Philo’s writings. I do not think all of them are but he is hard to understand as his way of writing is not mine.
The truth is the truth no matter who utters it. Why are you afraid to seek the truth no matter where it will be found.
January 4, 2016 at 5:23 am#806940kerwinParticipantNick,
I do not see where we are progressing in this conversation and I am not sure you are mature enough to determine what is true and what is false. In all things this conversation seem dead, even if we were to continue it.
January 4, 2016 at 6:27 am#806941NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Why would you boast of your maturity if you give glory to what is of man?

You would deny the work of the Spirit in John?
What else do you deny?

Do you really have such little respect for the Word of God that you would put those of carnal philosophers alongside it as equal?

January 4, 2016 at 6:59 am#806948NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
When you read the words of John is there anything you read that is not of God’ Spirit.
If so which words?
Can you rely on his words and quote them as truth or do you have doubts?
Does 2 Peter 1.19-21 apply to his writings?
If not why not?
Do you really think the same applies to Philo’s words?
Can you hear the clear voice of the Spirit in his writings?
Can you quote each phrase as if it was God given truth?
Test all things and hold fast to what is good.
January 4, 2016 at 9:05 am#806951kerwinParticipantNick,
When Scripture say test the Spirit of what you hear did you see an exception for the apostles?
You lack of confidence in being mature enough to judge what is true and what is false reveals that you lack maturity.
January 4, 2016 at 9:15 am#806952NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Your boast of maturity allows you to test the Spirit?
You can judge the ways of God?
whom do you serve?
