Hi All,
I propose that T8 could make an option for you to “LIKE” a post as you would “like” a post on facebook.
why?
1. quick postive feedback.
2. acknowledge that the post as been read by somebody
3. more participation
4. quicker polls
5. support for certain ideas and arguements posted
6. In the debate section, though its 1 vs 1, others can like a post that they feel they really “liked” and in a way participate in the most minimal manner.
7. the post should have by whom it was liked by
8. saves alot of space from unessary posts like “i really liked that post bob, good job.” save some money t8
9. brings a bigger crowd.
10. ADD YOUR OWN REASONS BELOW!May 23, 2011 at 7:40 am#246629shimmerParticipantNo not a good idea.
Especially not heavennet! It will become a popularity competition,
It's bad enough how it is SF.
NO WAY!
May 23, 2011 at 7:43 am#246630SimplyForgivenParticipantI dont think its a bad idea, its only leaves room for POSITIVE feedback..
NOW if there was a DISLIKE Button, thats a different story.
IT WORKS on facebook, why not in Heaven.net?
May 23, 2011 at 8:10 am#246632Is 1:18ParticipantI quite like the idea. No pun intended.
May 23, 2011 at 8:59 am#246638shimmerParticipantSF, I've seen this on another Christian forum and it just doesn't seem to work.
That's just my view.
May 23, 2011 at 9:58 am#246639Is 1:18ParticipantShimmer – I don't like the systems other TMBs use where the like/dislike tally counts toward a reputation profile for the members. The members who espouse popular doctrines or who have likable personailities tend to build impressive profiles. But I think you can easily fall into the trap of wanting to appeal to people's affections, rather than lobbying for the truth. So as long as it's just a simple like/dislike post feed back mechanism I see not problem.
May 23, 2011 at 10:43 am#246641shimmerParticipantHi Is. Exactly! The tally counts toward a reputation profile is what I have seen. Next to the username is how many thanks they have recieved next to how many posts they have done. It should never be about that. We should be trying to be humble and meek, and for those who don't get many thanks then they will feel sad and left out.
Where it's good is if you want to keep a list of good posts and it shows up as a list in your private control panel for later reference.
May 23, 2011 at 4:54 pm#246661SimplyForgivenParticipanti think there should only be a “like” button, like how it is on facebook. No dislikebutton. no tallys for a profile. the emphasis is on the post itself and thats it. i agree with shimmer but i think wat she think im proposing is an extreme of the minimal im askin for.

Not to mention making a donation which also raises your profile.May 23, 2011 at 11:11 pm#246687mikeboll64BlockedOoooh, t8, if I send you a twenty, can you put me in a “Most Popular” category that shows up by my avatar?
D, I hear what you're saying, but t8 already has the “thumbs up” icon we can use for the same purpose, right?
I'm not on facebook, so maybe I'm missing something?
May 23, 2011 at 11:50 pm#246693LightenupParticipantt8,
I think that if I were you, I would increase Mike's price to a three figure amount.Think about it, it could be a real money maker for you.
May 24, 2011 at 12:25 am#246696mikeboll64BlockedWhat are you talking about Kathi? Everyone here loves me!
May 24, 2011 at 3:48 am#246714LightenupParticipantI know Mike but I'm sure t8 could use more compensation for putting up with those that love you and want to wring your neck
May 24, 2011 at 4:35 am#246717mikeboll64BlockedYeah, everyone here is after scriptural truth…………….EXCEPT FOR WHEN IT INTERFERES WITH THEIR OWN “TRUTH”.

I would like to increase his salary by 500%.
Up to you Mike. 0 x 500% = 0.Take it or leave it.
I won't make this offer again.May 24, 2011 at 10:34 pm#246767mikeboll64BlockedI'll take it! (Just so I can tell people I'm doing such a great job that you gave me a raise.)
May 25, 2011 at 2:15 am#246796WispringParticipantMy strongly held opinion…I agree the thumbs up icon serves the same purpose as the like button, however, it is not easy to see how many thumbs up icons a post has received if the are not textually grouped together. Is there a script that you can incorporate that shows on the initial post how many thumbs up it has received? If not, no big deal. If you really want to know you can just read the threads and use the your own mind to see how well a post is received by other posters. I also agree with the thought of not adding a popularity contest aspect to the site. We all have our preferences in things. I like it whenever posters use quotes of the things our Lord and Master Christ Jesus said. This is just my preference. I realize there are issues that are disussed/debated that don't necessitate inclusions of what Christ Jesus said. He like God is no respecter of persons, therefore, seeking popularity doesn't seem to be a primary objective of either Christ Jesus or God/Jehova/YHWH.
