Quote (Lightenup @ Sep. 14 2011,21:04) We have been over and over Gen 18. All you can say is the vice regent argument…I have heard it many times…I disagree. Do you have anything besides that?
The more accurate question is: Do YOU have anything AT ALL to PROVE the "vice-regent" thing false? I mean, other than your personal WISHES?September 16, 2011 at 12:45 am#258473mikeboll64BlockedQuote (Lightenup @ Sep. 14 2011,21:07) Quote (mikeboll64 @ Sep. 14 2011,21:57) Kathi, You are skirting the issue. Will any of your brothers or sisters at church stand beside you and boldly proclaim that they worship TWO completely separate Gods?
When you say separate Gods, you give the wrong impression. God the Father and God the Son are not God to us separately but interdependently. I do believe that they agree with me here.
Kathi, HOW MANY GODS DO YOU WORSHIP? ONE? TWO? MORE THAN TWO?September 16, 2011 at 12:52 am#258474mikeboll64BlockedQuote (Lightenup @ Sep. 14 2011,21:04) There is only ONE 'Most High God' unity, and ONE 'Most High God, the Father' and ONE 'Most High God, the Son.'
No Kathi.Apparently your doctrine has you so blinded that you can't even do simple addition anymore. If there is "ONE 'Most High God, the Father' and ONE 'Most High God, the Son'", then that adds up to TWO Most High Gods.
Yet for US, there is only ONE God………….THE FATHER. Our ONE God has a SON named Jesus who is the SERVANT OF his God – who just happens to be the SAME God as OUR God.
This is scriptural, Kathi – whether your own personal WISHES accept that or not.

Quote Yet for US, there is only ONE God………….THE FATHER. And one Lord…………Jesus Christ.
That makes two that are deity for millions of those of us who have faith in the deity of the Father and the Son.

It still makes only ONE God. I mean, does 8:6 say that for us there are TWO Gods? Or does it say that for us there is but ONE God? There is a big difference between the number "ONE" and the number "TWO". And an even bigger difference in the MEANINGS implied. So, you have to HONESTLY ask yourself: If Paul meant to say that Jesus and his Father were BOTH God, would he not have just said, "yet for us there are but TWO Gods"?
Use 8:6 in conjunction with 1 Cor 11:3, which was written by the same Apostle of Christ.
You want to understand 8:6 to be saying that we have ONE God, and one Lord (WHO ALSO IS GOD!) But that's not at all what it's saying, is it Kathi? When you read it in conjunction with 11:3, it becomes crystal clear that we have ONE God who is the HEAD of our one Lord. "GOD" is a HIGHER postion than "Lord". And Paul is laying that out for you, but you can't see it because you've been blinded by the god of this world.

Who is the Lord in this verse?Matthew 11:25 (NASB)
25 At that time Jesus said, "I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. And who is the 'God' in this verse:
Hebrews 1:8
But of the Son He says, "YOUR THRONE, O GOD, IS FOREVER AND EVER, AND THE RIGHTEOUS SCEPTER IS THE SCEPTER OF HIS KINGDOM.So you say that God is a higher position than Lord…hmmmm.
September 17, 2011 at 4:50 pm#258660mikeboll64BlockedReally Kathi? You are going to post a scripture that says the Father is "Lord of heaven and earth" and then act as if I am the one misunderstanding the scriptures? That's too rich!
Kathi, how can THE FATHER be "Lord of heaven and earth" when you insist it is the Father who is the "God part of Jehovah" and the Son who is the "Lord part of Jehovah"?
You have swiftly and effectively killed your own Deut 10:17 based doctrine ALL BY YOURSELF – with one simple scripture! Brava!
As far as Heb 1:8, many translations add a footnote that says: Or, "God is your throne forever". But it's interesting that you would use a scripture which, in your version of it, says that this "god" mentioned has a God of his own who PLACED HIM above his companions. Now Kathi, using the CONTEXT, which you call "king", which one of the two gods mentioned in 1:8-9 is our ONE God Most High?
Kathi, please entertain me with your thoughs of 1 Cor 8:6 in conjunction with 1 Cor 11:3. Tell me who is the HIGHER One in 8:6: the Lord, or the God who is the head OF the Lord?
