The English language is not given to such ideas and they translate poorly.
The Word is the Son of God in Ancient Greek; just like Wisdom is the Daughter of God in Hebrew. They are neither in English.

Jammin,'I do not hold that John 1:1 is directly speaking of the Holy Spirit.
I do hold that the Holy Counselor is the Word in it moves and the Word is revealed. That knowledge can be learned in Genesis 1, as Ed points out.
These are self evident truths that expect anyone to know no matter how they choose to interpret John 1:1.
It is like having a debate over whether or not water is wet.
therefore, THE WORD in john 1.1 is not the HS but the son of GOD

Jammin,I have trouble believing you do not see that Proverbs 7:4 calls Wisdom a sister, which makes her a daughter of God, and Proverbs 8:23 that she was set up from everlasting, which makes her the firstborn of God.
She is the personification of the Wisdom attribute of God. Both the Hebrew and Greek are given to such personification. Here is information about logos.

Nick,God gave the land of Israel to the children of Israel and yet it remained his land.
I was speaking of the spirit of prophecy in the same way.
God and Mosses are united in the ways God chooses. Placing “Mosses' (God's) spirit on the 70 united them in the same way. There union was a type of a greater union to come.

It is clear that both Ancient Greek and Hebrew are given to personifications because of gender based nouns.
As far as I know there is no real debate about it; whatever the belief is about John 1:1.

Jammin,I know the Easy-to-read version is a poor translation that tries to translate ideas instead of words. I am speaking of both Wisdom an Word as
