This debate is between those who believe in the existence of God and those who say that there is no God.
The following is an argument saying that it is foolish to deny the existence of a God. Can you refute it?
February 26, 2010 at 10:24 pm#180566ProclaimerParticipantHere is the premise or an example for the statement “It is unreasonable to say there is no God”.
It is unreasonable to assume that there is no life on other planets.
It is unreasonable to assume that there definitely is life on other planets.
It is reasonable to assume that there is life on other planets, if you have come into contact with extra-terrestrial life or seen evidence of life through a telescope.
It is reasonable to assume that there could be life on other planets if circumstances that we see on earth (that are evidence of life) exist elsewhere in the universe. Now lets take this thinking and apply it to the existence of a creator.
It is unreasonable to assume that there is no God.
It is unreasonable to assume that there is a God (if you have nothing to back it up or if you have a fantasy that God exists).
It is reasonable to assume that there is a God if you have come into contact with God.
It is reasonable to assume that there is a God if we see what appears to be intelligent design in the physical universe. So of all the points above, you can argue them till the cows come home, but one point you cannot reasonably argue for, is the statement “There is no God”. That statement is made by bias alone and it is shabby science or shabby detective work to say that there is no God.
It is also written in scripture: “The fool has said in his heart that there is no God”. I think that sums it up.
Ding ding.
Round 2…
