I offer scripture. If that confuses you, then you need to rid your mind of Babylon.February 10, 2013 at 11:03 pm#332497mikeboll64BlockedQuote (Ed J @ Feb. 10 2013,13:47) Do you call Jesus “The Everlasting Father”? “Yes” or “no”?
Scripture calls Jesus everlasting father, Ed.This is from NETNotes:
[Everlasting father] must not be taken in an anachronistic Trinitarian sense. (To do so would be theologically problematic, for the “Son” is the messianic king and is distinct in his person from God the “Father.”) Rather, in its original context the title pictures the king as the protector of his people. For a similar use of “father” see Isa 22:21 and Job 29:16. This figurative, idiomatic use of “father” is not limited to the Bible. Here are the two scriptures they listed:
Isaiah 22:21 AKJV
And I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand: and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.Job 29:16 AKJV
I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out.I will also offer a couple of my own, that you can add to the NETNotes examples:
2 Kings 2:12
Elisha saw this and cried out, “My father! My father! The chariots and horsemen of Israel!” And Elisha saw him no more.2 Kings 5:13
Naaman’s servants went to him and said, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it?2 Kings 6:21
When the king of Israel saw them, he asked Elisha, “Shall I kill them, my father?2 Kings 13:14
Now Elisha was suffering from the illness from which he died. Jehoash king of Israel went down to see him and wept over him. “My father! My father!” he cried. “The chariots and horsemen of Israel!”So Ed, are you able to see how easily Jesus can be called “everlasting father” in Biblical terminology?

The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)
Really Ed? A CHILD is born, and JEHOVAH'S NAME shall be called thus and thus? What hint did Isaiah give you so that you knew he changed subjects from the son to the Father God? I see that the government shall be on his (the son's) shoulders, and his (the sons's) name shall be called………..
Where are YOU seeing that the government shall be on his (the son's) shoulder, and his (God's) name shall be called………..
Apparently, this is yet another case of a Biblical author switching subjects midstream, without even a hint of warning, and nobody is able to figure it out except for ED J.

In the “Beginning” thread, Ed has gone as far as to claim that Paul miswrote Hebrews 1:8-9, by placing the words, “And unto the Son he saith” in the WRONG PLACE!
He's really on a roll.
February 11, 2013 at 1:06 am#332550ProclaimerParticipantI guess that we can rule out that he was Paul then.
Unless of course he was correcting himself.
Maybe that is why he is confident in correcting Paul?Ed J, were you Paul?

Hi T8,To me “The Everlasting Father” is the father of Jesus, not Jesus. I never
knew that you believed this to be Jesus, so thanks for clearing up the confusion.God bless

Hi Mike,Jesus is not called “The Everlasting Father” – יה YÄ instead is; which is part of Jesus name.
“Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the
heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him. A father of the fatherless,
and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.” (Psalms 68:4-5)God bless

If those of faith are children of Abraham, then why couldn't Jesus be a greater Ab than Abraham?
The Father is Abba.
And Abraham is the father (Ab) of the chosen and Jesus is the foundation and Father (Ab) of our faith. And we are fathers too. But none of us are the Heavenly Father for that alone is God.Okay, I don't know if God the Father is ever called Ab.
And is there a real difference between Abba and Ab?
