The term hades in Christian theology (and in New Testament Greek) is parallel to Hebrew sheol (שאול, grave or dirt-pit), and refers to the abode of the dead. The Christian concept of hell is more akin to and communicated by the Greek concept of Tartarus, a deep, gloomy part of hades used as a dungeon of torment and suffering.March 14, 2012 at 1:52 am#284761kerwinParticipantPierre,
Thank you!

Terricca…….All of that is simply “MYSTERY RELIGIOUS” Teachings that confound and confuse the mind. The simple truth is when a person dies he is dead and no longer alive and remains that way until he attains to a resurrection Back to life Just as Jesus did with a Body> Pagan thinking and traditions have built all kind of false teachings over the years .But the bottom line is when a person dies there is no more thoughts or devices or work in the grave where he goes the light are out and stay out until a resurrection occurs. That is why it say “MYSTERY BABYLON the GREAT the MOTHER of HARLOTS and Abominations of the earth.” These false teachings of life after death are simply part of that false those Abominations spoken of in Revelations. IMO

Gene,We understand that you accuse Jesus of using “a false teachings of life after death” that is “simply part of that false those Abominations spoken of in Revelations” to teach a lesson.

but the soul of men goes were it is send by God ,the saints in one place and the murderers in a other place for this is our waiting place
so i assume it is your ignorance of truth that lead you to believe what you write about Babylon the great

March 19, 2012 at 7:13 pm#286072GeneBalthropParticipantKerwin and Pierre………..So produce scriptures where Jesus said a person is still alive after He dies, Isn't that a OXYMORON, How can you be alive and dead at the same time. When Jesus said to his apostles Lazarus sleeps they assumed he was also still alive and the what did Jesus say “HE IS DEAD” and that does not mean alive in anyones language except “MYSTERY RELIGIOUS” Thoughts of the Pagans Like the Egyptians and GREEK and ROMANS and like both of you two also. Jesus PLAINLY SAID i was “DEAD” and am ALIVE forever.
The whole concept of a RESURRECTION is FROM The state of the dead, to a LIVING STATE, Even a simpleton should know that. But your definitions of DEAD Means still ALIVE, that is your rendition of scriptures you do not understand , Ideas put in you heads by false teachings of Pagans over many centuries.
The is what “MYSTERY BABYLON” Means , go look up the word Babylon, it means (confusion), and that is exactly what you are you neither know if a person is dead or alive and can't even distinguish that simple difference. And you say I am confused that is a Joke at best> Your false religion say People still live after they DIE well in that case why as resurrection at all then it would not be “NEEDED” So you religion preaches a DEATH is a SHAM and Jesus (truly did not die as He said He did. Lets see who should we believe You two or Jesus?. I Chose Jesus. IMO
peace and love……………………………………………….gene

Jesus used the religious tenet of Sheol to teach a lesson. In his lesson he made it clear that there are two sides of Sheol; one for the wicked, and one for the righteous.
Those are Jesus' words and you either believe them or not.
When Jesus speaks to the repentant thief, as they were suffering on their respective crosses, he mentions about meeting him in paradise. Paradise is the side the soul of Lazarus the Beggar went to. Tartarus, the side the rich man went to is also mentioned in the new testament.
Jesus was not the first to teach of the Netherworld of Sheol. Peter was doing the same thing as the translators of the Septuagint when he chose to translate Sheol to the name of the Greek netherworld. Tartarus is also a name of part of the Greek netherworld.
Shades are a shadow of the person they were; being bodily challenged. They lack certain characteristics and abilities that a body imparts to them. They are the life of the body and so have life in them. The entire creature is not alive; just the soul of the dead.
