The human brain is truly awesome.
A typical, healthy one houses some 200 billion nerve cells, which are connected to one another via hundreds of trillions of synapses. Each synapse functions like a microprocessor, and tens of thousands of them can connect a single neuron to other nerve cells. In the cerebral cortex alone, there are roughly 125 trillion synapses, which is about how many stars fill 1,500 Milky Way galaxies. These synapses are, of course, so tiny (less than a thousandth of a millimeter in diameter) that humans haven't been able to see with great clarity what exactly they do and how, beyond knowing that their numbers vary over time. That is until now.

Are those colors real, or like infrared photography?
At any rate, Praise Jah! Our Creator is nothing short of brilliant and magnificent.

Jupiter is the creator, isn't he?Or was that Baal…
So many gods, so little evidence.

November 19, 2010 at 11:46 am#225617ProclaimerParticipantStu you repeat the common fallacy that because men do not know who God is that this some how makes him not exist.
That is like saying that detectives who argue over who Jack the Ripper really was, somehow makes him non-existence.As long as you repeat this fallacy, then we can rest easy knowing that this is ultimately what your last word on the matter seems to be and and hence that topics title is still true.
“Atheists pose NO intellectual threat to God.”
Now back to the “Human brain has more switches than all computers” topic.
Just how much collective IQ was involved to create all the world's computers, and yet here again we see that some believe that the human brain which outdoes all that collective intelligence by a long shot is somehow produced by something with an IQ of zero. Let me give you a bit of a head start. Go find a person with the IQ of 25, now go and make a computer more sophisticated than the human brain.
See, again, you lose Stu. You should easily be able to outdo IQ Zero with an IQ of 25.
Try a new angle. I feel like refuting something new. Not the same old same old.
Or perhaps this is the best you can do. If so, then you lost.
Please send a new Atheist.November 19, 2010 at 11:56 am#225619Ed JParticipantQuote (Stu @ Nov. 19 2010,20:48) Quote (Ed J @ Nov. 19 2010,17:28) Quote (Stu @ Nov. 18 2010,15:59)

HI Stuart,Jer.10:10 “YHVH” (YÄ-hä-vā) is the true God, he is the living God,
and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble,
and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.
Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not
made the heavens and the earth, even they shall
perish from the earth, and from under these heavens.Witnessing to the world in behalf of YHVH (Psalm 45:17)
יהוה האלהים (JEHOVAH GOD) YÄ-hä-vā hä ĔL-ō-Hêêm!

Quote Stu you repeat the common fallacy that because men do not know who God is that this some how makes him not exist.
I think this qualifies as a platitude also. It has the chauvinistic term “men” (as opposed to “man” which is a slightly non-PC expression for “human”) as an amusing distraction from the idea that you can “know” this Sky Friend when you can’t show it exists.Quote That is like saying that detectives who argue over who Jack the Ripper really was, somehow makes him non-existence.
How is it like that? Do you not believe in forensic evidence either? Bodhitharta doesn’t think the police could catch him either, apparently.Quote As long as you repeat this fallacy, then we can rest easy knowing that this is ultimately what your last word on the matter seems to be and and hence that topics title is still true.
It is not a fallacy to make a provisional conclusion after a search for evidence against the hypothesis. It is a permanent state of waiting for new evidence to contradict that conclusion. If intelligent people did not think in this open way then I think the bluff of the religiously deluded would have been called to a much greater extent. You are extended that courtesy by people who acknowledge their agnosticism regarding Imaginary Friends invented by your, yet you do not extend that same courtesy when others invent imaginary friends. This is the arrogance of assuming you have absolute truth.Quote “Atheists pose NO intellectual threat to God.”
You pose no threat to fairies, as pointed out by WiT.Quote Now back to the “Human brain has more switches than all computers” topic. I am not the one making the losing assertion of the logical fallacy of composition. My arguments are logically valid.Quote Try a new angle. I feel like refuting something new. Not the same old same old.
Perhaps we can get on to new stuff once you have actually refuted something. All you have done is name religious fantasy concepts. That is not “refuting”. You set up the website. Can’t you find something more interesting to discuss than your existentialist deistic obsessions? The problem is not with the participants in the conversation as much as it is with the banal subject matter: your egotistical worldview that makes the creator of the entire universe interested in petty things like where you left your car keys. The universe does not appear to me to be like that at all, but you have never addressed that worldview in logical terms. You still have not given us any alternative theory to the standard models of science. That is the only source of mechanisms for how the universe came into being, and if you have no alternatives of equivalent detail then you are not really competing. What of WiT's fairies?
