So I know Christmas and Easter have pagan roots and that isn’t a good thing. So then how do we avoid it since it is so ingraned in our society? What do we do about it?
December 5, 2015 at 4:51 pm#805650NickHassanParticipantHi and welcome JFS,
We can be in the world and not of the world.
Let the dead bury the dead.
December 6, 2015 at 3:14 am#805657JFSurvivorParticipantwhat does that mean?
December 6, 2015 at 6:21 am#805659GeneBalthropParticipantJFS…..welcome to the site, look non of us can help what we are born into, but as God shows us the truth about things and as we accept those truth he gives us, we need to adjust our lives, there are parts of CHRISTMAS, that are pure pagan in orign, but there are parts that talk about the berth of our lord Jesus and give some attention to him as our savior and the savior of the world, that a good part, i enjoy the music about his berth and his destiny from his very berth and he certainly is a Joy to the world and espically to us who are in him. So enjoy the good and reject the bad. We all need to learn to rightly devide things. IMO
peace and love to you and yours. ………….gene
December 6, 2015 at 7:09 am#805662NickHassanParticipantHi JFS,
Christmas is about celebrating the birth of a child.
It is not about salvation by the words and actions of an anointed man of God.
It is not about an opportunity offered by a gracious God to those who are otherwise destined for eternal death.
The world loves birthdays but does not listen to the message the man brought.
December 6, 2015 at 9:00 am#805665NickHassanParticipantHi,
It fits with the false religious idea that Jesus was born different to us, a god to be worshiped.
December 6, 2015 at 9:45 am#805667kerwinParticipantJFSurvivor,
The roots of the Holidays are irrelevant.
What is relevant is whether or not you worship the God of Adam, Abraham, and Jesus or not.
If a human holds a holiday sacred to God then to them it is sacred to God if another does not hold it sacred to God then to them it is not sacred to God.
December 6, 2015 at 10:50 am#805672NickHassanParticipantHi jfs,
This is the root of the false religion, the worship of man.
December 6, 2015 at 5:50 pm#805707GeneBalthropParticipantKerwin……TRUE, Good post brother.
peace and love to you and yours. …………gene
December 13, 2015 at 5:06 pm#806107NickHassanParticipantHi,
Most of the Christmas carols support the false idea that Jesus was born anointed.
December 15, 2015 at 2:40 pm#806135NickHassanParticipantHi,
Christmas is a celebration of the birth of a baby.
Satan must love the focus being away from the anointing on the man.
December 15, 2015 at 4:21 pm#806139kerwinParticipantNick,
His conception and birth is of some purpose but the time of his anointing as heir is not explicitly mentioned though it does seem God acknowledged him as his Son at the Jordon.
December 15, 2015 at 4:41 pm#806142NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
The Holy Spirit came down on him in the form of a dove.
December 15, 2015 at 5:43 pm#806143kerwinParticipantNick,
You can argue that hints that he was anointed at that time and to point Escritoire agrees as it testifies he was anointed to preach the gospel. (Luke 4:18) Act 10:38 states God anointed him with the Spirit and with power. None of them make the case that he was anointed as Heir. The best evidence to support your idea is the words “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” but that only tells us that he is pleased with his son’s actions that day not that he appointed him his heir.
God formed him to be be the Christ but when he was actually anointed is a mystery. I am not sure it is important to solve it.
December 15, 2015 at 8:24 pm#806144NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
So truth has to filtered through your intellect to be proven?
December 15, 2015 at 8:38 pm#806145NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Both Matthew and Luke give witness to this event.
But you are plagued with doubts?
December 16, 2015 at 3:46 am#806148kerwinParticipantNick,
I am not adding my words to the immersion of Jesus at the Jordon River. You can if you want but will be accountable to God for every word you add and take away from the gospel of Christ.
December 16, 2015 at 5:01 am#806149NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
So their witness is true.
Your perceptions dubious?
December 16, 2015 at 5:33 am#806150kerwinParticipantNick,
I already laid the case before you.
Your claim is not written.
Yahweh judges whether each of our claims is dubious.
December 16, 2015 at 6:32 am#806154NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Matt 3.16
After being baptised, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and lighting on him,and behold, a voice out of the heavens said
“This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased”
Lk 3 21
Now when all the people were baptised, Jesus was also baptised, and while he was praying heaven was opened, and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form like a dove, and a voice came out of heaven
“You are My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased”
What is it that you do not believe?
