Okay. But verses like John 17:20-24 speak of many different BEINGS becoming one in unity with God. It does not speak of many beings becoming God Himself, but unifying their will with God's will, and being led by God's Spirit. What I'm driving at is: Is the Spirit of God a separate being/person/individual from God the Father, to where it has it's own agenda, free will, mind, feelings, etc?

Is the Spirit of Elijah in John of the Spirit of God?
No. All spirit is of God. There is no spirit said to be OF the Spirit of God. For some reason, you are making God's Spirit into a separate being, with spirits of its own. What scriptures teach you of such a thing?

Hi MB,
The Spirit of God is IN God and OF God.
How could God have another BEING of HIM?God is ONE
March 1, 2012 at 2:21 am#281812mikeboll64BlockedOkay then Nick. If that is the case, John 6:38 refutes your current understanding.
38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.
If this was God speaking through Jesus, then who “sent Him”?
If this was the Spirit of Christ speaking through Jesus, then how does something that is of God (a part of Him) have it's own will?
It is clear to me that Jesus himself said these words, and therefore is the one who came down from heaven to do the will of his God.
March 1, 2012 at 2:24 am#281814NickHassanParticipantHi MB,
Why would you expect the WORD to not serve God?
The Spirit of Christ spoke.March 1, 2012 at 2:32 am#281820mikeboll64BlockedBut see, now you're making them separate beings from God again. If a spirit can speak of its own initiative, then it has its own mind, will, feelings, etc. That makes it an individual BEING, separate from God. If the Word can SERVE God, then the Word must be something SEPARATE FROM God.
March 1, 2012 at 2:34 am#281822NickHassanParticipantHi MB,
Separate beings?
The Word was God.God's Spirit is interestingly complex and includes the Spirit of Christ.

The Word was God.
Was the Word sent by God to do his own will? Or the will of God who sent him?March 1, 2012 at 2:41 am#281826NickHassanParticipantHi MB,
The Word that was with God was made flesh and dwelt among us.
Jesus Christ was in the form of God but emptied himself becoming as a servant.March 1, 2012 at 2:44 am#281829mikeboll64BlockedYes Nick. That is clearly what the scriptures teach. Now, could you address my point?
March 1, 2012 at 2:51 am#281830NickHassanParticipantHi MB,
The same relationship in the Spirit of God between God and the Word that existed in the beginning continues in Christ Jesus.
