Hi KW,
As it is written ;there is none righteous, no not even one.rom.3.10
Except you?
August 23, 2015 at 10:24 am#802368NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
“Rom3 21f
“but now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; even the righteousness of God which is by faith in Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe; for there is no difference; for all have sinned ;and come short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is IN Christ Jesus”
Give up trying to establish your own righteousness for you can never match Christ Jesus.

Be careful to get the whole message before repeating it.
Romans 3:19Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
Your words were some Paul quoted from the OT.
August 23, 2015 at 6:14 pm#802379kerwinParticipantNick,
We have already covered this. The righteousness from God is to put on the new self created like God in true righteousness and holiness. Those that wear their old self do not have it though they may have received it by adherence to the true gospel.
Walk by the Spirit and you will the fruits of the Spirit and not the fruits of the flesh for the Spirit and flesh are in conflict.
August 23, 2015 at 6:56 pm#802383NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
If you are not yet born of the Spirit how can you walk in the Spirit?
August 23, 2015 at 8:11 pm#802386kerwinParticipantNick,
Yes, those who are not born of the Spirit cannot walk by the Spirit.
It is only those that are immersed in water by the authority of Jesus Christ that are born of Spirit just as Paul testifies in Romans 6 when he states the old man is put to death and the new man arises from the water.
August 23, 2015 at 8:21 pm#802389NickHassanParticipantHi kW,
Indeed Paul described rebirth in general in that way.
But did you receive the Spirit or are you just ASSUMING you did?
August 24, 2015 at 4:18 am#802398GeneBalthropParticipantNick…..GOOD QUESTION did you? Or are you just “ASSUMING”? Why use doubtful disputations, Rom 14:1
peace and love to you and yours. …………..gene
August 24, 2015 at 8:10 am#802403kerwinParticipantNick,
It is somewhat figurative but it is not general.
He states that those that are immersed in Jesus have their old self perish with Jesus on the cross and rise to live with him.
You already know the old self lives by the flesh and that those that are immersed in the name of Jesus are immersed in water.
Why do you doubt that being immersed in Jesus’ name is to be immersed in Jesus?
August 24, 2015 at 10:24 am#802406NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
To be immersed in the name of Jesus is to die with him.
But it is not to be raised to new life.
The requires the reception of the Spirit of life.
There are few who can impart the Spirit by the laying on of hands but it is written that if a child of God asks God for the Spirit will it not be given to him?
Seek Ye first the kingdom.
seek Ye first the kingdom
August 24, 2015 at 10:25 am#802407NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
So it is by faith we live.
Faith requires obedience then prayer becomes effective.
August 24, 2015 at 10:29 am#802408terrariccaParticipantN/kw
According to Jesus we must live by the truth to see the light ,meaning to understand the scriptures, he also said to worship our common God in spirit and truth
For if not doing so we would have nothing at all
Righteousness in my understanding is the product of living by the truth right ?
August 24, 2015 at 3:32 pm#802418kerwinParticipantNick,
To be immersed in the name of Jesus is to die with him.
But it is not to be raised to new life.
That disagrees with what Paul taught the Romans for he wrote:
Romans 6:3-4Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
August 24, 2015 at 3:37 pm#802419kerwinParticipantterrarica,
According to Jesus we must live by the truth to see the light
Did a search of the AV of the KJV and did not find it. Could you please give me the address of those words. Thank you.
August 24, 2015 at 3:38 pm#802420kerwinParticipantNick,
Yes, the righteous live by faith.
August 24, 2015 at 3:46 pm#802423terrariccaParticipantkw
here is the scripture;Jn 3:21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.β
Romans 6:3-4Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.so this Paul means what Jesus says in John 3 ;21 except he use the word EMERGING in his death
August 24, 2015 at 4:37 pm#802428kerwinParticipantTerrarica,
Thank you, I had forgotten that the AV of the KJV has antiquated verb forms.
August 24, 2015 at 5:28 pm#802430NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Do you think death is the same as being raised from the dead?
The spirit is needed to give eternal life.
August 24, 2015 at 7:56 pm#802433kerwinParticipantNick,
Does a believer remain buried with him in immersal until an apostle lays hands on him or is he raised from being immersed first just like Jesus was raised from the grave?
It is those that raise from being “buried with him by baptism into death” that should walk in newness of life.
August 24, 2015 at 7:57 pm#802434kerwinParticipantNick,
He writes the same basic message to the Colossians.
Colossians 2:12American Standard Version (ASV)
12 having been buried with him in baptism, wherein ye were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.
