hi KW,
So your enemy is just yourself?
Sounds as though such an idea is of the world rather than the word.
August 10, 2015 at 6:14 am#801941kerwinParticipantterrarica,
After thinking if it for a while I have come to the realization there is more than the unconscious mind that makes up the flesh. It is only one element.
It is my understanding we are chained to the nature of the flesh, which includes those things of the unconscious mind as a result of the nature of this world since the fall.
August 10, 2015 at 6:18 am#801942kerwinParticipantTerraricca,
We do not instigate temptation.
August 10, 2015 at 6:27 am#801943kerwinParticipantNick,
Please consider your words before you post.
Yes a person is their own enemy as “sin in them” battles against their conscious beliefs.
Acts 24:25New English Translation (NET Bible)
25 While Paul was discussing righteousness, self-control, and the coming judgment, Felix became frightened and said, “Go away for now, and when I have an opportunity, I will send for you.”
That is why Paul discussed self-control and other things with Felix and the later became frightened.
August 10, 2015 at 6:42 am#801945NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Is that so?
Are you able to dictate the hows, whys and wherefores of scripture?
August 10, 2015 at 9:06 am#801948terrariccaParticipantkw
Terraricca,
We do not instigate temptation.
are you sure of that ? Peter and James do not agree with you
August 10, 2015 at 10:11 am#801950kerwinParticipantNick,
Is that a serious question?
The words self control means your enemy is yourself and thus the need to control yourself.
Satan and his agents are tempters and abusers but it is yourself you are commanded to control.
August 10, 2015 at 10:25 am#801951kerwinParticipantTerrarica,
Jesus was tempted even as we are but without sin so perhaps you might want to consider the words of James and Peter in that light.
August 10, 2015 at 10:39 am#801952NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Really?
Scripture does not say we are our own enemy but your gospel does.
All is grace, including SELF CONTROL, and we are not saved by our striving.

Your words reveal you do not understand Scripture.
August 10, 2015 at 11:17 am#801956NickHassanParticipantHi KW!
Again you hold yourself up as a paragon of scriptural understanding.
Where does this idea come from?
August 10, 2015 at 11:33 am#801958NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Carnal men like Festus have no concept of grace such as Paul was teaching him about.
No wonder he was frightened and withdrew from dialogue.
August 10, 2015 at 1:16 pm#801965kerwinParticipantNick,
I just regard you as behaving irrational.
After all you imply that a human needs to control themselves because they are allied with themselves.
Your point is absurd which led me to believe you are wasting my time.
August 10, 2015 at 1:20 pm#801966kerwinParticipantNick,
Yes, the fruits of Festus reveals he was a natural man.

I wish i could but i cannot ;first their is only one christ ,second there has been only one send from the father to fulfilling his will ,third, if you think to put on the shoes of Christ to fulfilling what he did you are deceiving yourself ,and fourth ;no one as ever been able to copy Christ for his position has the only begotten son of God as never been on sale
August 11, 2015 at 10:10 am#801999kerwinParticipantTerraricca,
Do you not believe Jesus when he states “Truly, truly, I say to you, He that believes on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go to my Father”? (John 14:12 American King James Version)
August 11, 2015 at 10:15 am#802000kerwinParticipantTerrarica,
Scripture compares Jesus with humanity as far as temptation goes. In order for him to be tempted as the rest of humanity then what James and Peter said about temptation as regards humanity also applies to him.
Either your image of Jesus is flawed or your understanding of Peter and James’ words are in error or both your image of him and their words are wrong.
August 11, 2015 at 1:48 pm#802018NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Your theories about the nature of man find no reflection in scripture

so you try to say that anyone that believe in Christ will be able to bring people back from the dead,do miracles and save man from sin and give them everlasting life ?and greater yet ?
are you one of those ?
are you sure of that or is this only your opinion ?

tell me great one ,why would a perfect man be put to temptation ?for he was the only one not Adam but only LIKE him big difference ,
so again you have much yet to learn for Christ is the only image of our God and father
