    let the bible answer you
    Isaiah 1:3

    Amplified Bible (AMP)

3 The ox [instinctively] knows his owner, and the donkey his master’s crib, but Israel does not know or recognize Me [as Lord], My people do not consider or understand.

    Isaiah 1:3

    GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

    3 Oxen know their owners,
and donkeys know where their masters feed them.
But Israel doesn’t know its owner.
My people don’t understand who feeds them.

    Hi Mike,

אֱלִיל: idol, no value, thing of nothing

    Yes Ed,

It is often TRANSLATED as “idol”, but the word itself actually MEANS “thing of no value” – as you've correctly quoted.

    Ed,

    A.  TO WHOM did the king of Moab sacrifice his son?  (Hint:  The god of Moab was Chemosh.)

    B.  WHO brought down the wrath upon the Israelites that Jehovah had just helped to victory?  (Hint:  Surely Jehovah Himself would not honor a human sacrifice made to a different god, and bring down wrath upon the very people He just led to victory, right?)

    Thanks.

    Hi Mike,

Where is this verse located so I can formulate a response to you?

    Ed,

The verses are listed right there in the post where you quoted the above words from. The passage is 2 Kings 3:17-27.
