I asked you a question that requires an answer.
I will not read your BUTS (rebuttals) till I get a YES or a NO. And it is a required question. A lack of answer earns a square. That goes for me too.

Here is the question again. Please answer as this is the Hot Seat. Let your YES be yes and your NO be no. No more dodges please.

Does Haggai 1:13 use exactly the same Hebrew word (mal'ak) to describe Haggai and the being in Genesis 16:7 ?

    Hi T8,

My post (Oct. 28 2012,12:03) illustrates how that one Hebrew word carries four different meanings,
and [מַלְאַ֧ךְ] is expressed in various verses (confirmed), but carries different meanings
based on the context of the text. There are many cases where one word carries more
than one meaning. So this is NO proof whatsoever, merely 'brain-bondo' on your part.

Genesis 16:7

You do know what the word “Confirmed” means right?

    Hi T8,

The word “Angel” in English does not carry the exact meaning as מַלְאַךְ does in Hebrew.
Angel in the English does not mean ambassador or king or even messenger for that matter.

So when מַלְאַךְ is used to denote a messenger, it does not mean that the said messenger is an Angel. So Haggai is NOT being called an Angel, period!

    Hi T8,  (H4397)

    1. ambassador
    2. angel …………………… Genesis 16:7
    3. king
    4. messenger …………… Haggai 1:13

You are fixating on Angel, only one of the four definitions of this word.

    From an unused root meaning to despatch as a deputy;
a messenger; specifically, of God, i.e. An angel
(also a prophet, priest or teacher) —
    ambassador, angel, king, messenger.

Do you agree that מַלְאַךְ (malak) carries all four of these definitions – yes or no?

    Hi T8,

2 Chron 35:21 But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, What have I to do with thee, thou king of Judah?

Is not the same word “Malak” used here as well – yes or no?
Do you consider these ambassadors to be 'CALLED' Angels as well – yes or no?

A question has to be a fair question. That has already been mentioned.
If a question is not fair question such as, “have you stopped beating people” which condemns you no matter if you say yes or no, then you can report the question to a moderator.

No one is going to give you a square for not answering a question like that.

    Ed,

It is frustrating when people like you go out of your way to NOT answer a question DIRECTLY.  Even now, you chose to use the word “confirmed” instead of the word “yes” that t8 was asking for.  WHY ED?   ???  Why must you rebel like that?

Is it so hard for you to just say “YES” to t8's question?  You've gone through this with me a lot of times, and I even had to intervene between you and jammin that one time because you wouldn't just give a direct “YES” answer to a question that couldn't possibly have been answered any way except for “YES”.

I just don't understand this behavior from a man who claims to always be seeking agreement with the others here.

    Hi Mike,

That is the point my friend, I do indeed seek agreement.
Agreement takes an active participation on both parts.
Who are you suggesting me to be rebelling against?

The word מַלְאַ֧ךְ carries all four of the following meanings:

    1. ambassador
    2. angel …………………….Genesis 16:7
    3. king

    Was my answer not understood?
You do know what “confirmed” means, right?

No, multiple types of beings called מַלְאַ֧ךְ (malak).

    Ed,

I agree with your last post.  “Angel” is an English word that English translators sometimes attribute to the Hebrew word “malak”, and the Greek word “aggelos”………….. WHEN they believe the messenger in question was a spirit being.

Is a man ever called by the English word “angel” in the scripture?  Not purposely.  There could be an instance or two when the “angel” mentioned really was a man, and not a spirit being.  But the only reason this man would have been called an angel in the first place is because the English translators were convinced the scripture was speaking of a SPIRIT messenger, and not a HUMAN one.

So “NO”, no human being is ever called by the English word “angel” in any scripture (on purpose).

But the answer to t8's question could have easily and IMMEDIATELY been answered with a “YES” from you, because it is the ONLY correct answer to his question.

Yet you chose to irritate t8 by giving ANY answer you could that was NOT a direct “YES” – just to piss him off.  Even when you finally answered in the affirmative, you purposely chose not to use the word “YES” – just because you knew that's the word he was asking for.

This shows a spirit of disagreement and antagonism, Ed……………… not the spirit of agreement that you often self-promote yourself as seeking here.

    Hi Mike,

Thank you for agreeing with me!
Everything I do is for a purpose, and
that purpose is to help establish the truth.

I PMed T8 and told him not to take any thing I say personally. Since
posting on forums is permanent record, that's the reason I post the way I do.
And no, my goal is not to 'piss him off' as you say, but merely to help establish the truth.

    Ed,

You're welcome, but I said the same thing very early on in this thead.  The thread is worded awkwardly for the point t8 and I were making against Nick back then.  Nick was saying that Jesus can't be an angel, but the fact of the matter is that Jesus IS a “spirit messenger of God”, which is all that is required to be called an angel in English.

And the point remains that the only correct answer to t8's question is “YES”, and you should have just answered it that way.  He even told you that AFTER you answered the direct question, he would address any of your “Yes, BUT…….” concerns, right?

    Hi Mike,

God's message was given in Hebrew, refined in Greek, and a further refinement was given in English.
So there is no need to go back to the ambiguity of certain Hebrew words like “EL-o-heem” and “malak”.

Psalm 12:6-7 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them
(in the AKJV Bible) from this generation for ever.
Isaiah 28:11 For with stammering lips and another tongue
(that is English) will he speak to this people.

1Cor.14:27 (AKJV) If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two(Hebrew, Aramaic),
or at the most by three
(Greek), and that by course; [and let one (“AKJV Bible”) translate].

The “AKJV Bible” we have today was no accident, it's exactly the way GOD wanted it!

    God bless
