Gene’s belief in these things is connected to the age of Enlightenment but they also have some parallels to the teachings of the enlightenment.
The teaching that angels are spirit is a Gnostic teaching that uses some verses of Scripture that are open to interpretation in order to support it.

Yes, for a teaching whose name is translated as The Learned they sure did like their imagination.
The imperial cult won out though Gnosticism did insert some of their teachings in it.
Gnosticism is making a come back in these times.

The Sadducees did not believe in angels or spirits and you do not believe in spirits either. Scripture teaches us of evil spirit that inhabit human beings.

Scripture tells me devils have both the capability to believe with their hearts and the tremble as the result of that belief and yet you claim they do not exist and so can do neither.

(Not A spirit, but spirit, “A” is not in the GREEK LANGUAGE it was added by translators. THERE ARE SEVEN SPIRITS OF GOD,JUST AS SCRIPTURES CLEARLY SHOWS AND THESE SEVEN SPIRITS MAKE UP THE “EYES” (what God percieves things with, another words, the eyes of his mind ,better put. Another thing in passing, JESUS NEVER SAID “It is harder for a camel to go through the eye of a needle” that is a miss translation, the ARAMIC word “used there is “ROPE” NOT CAMEL, WHAT JESUS SAID WAS “IT IS HARDER FOR A “ROPE” TO GO THROUGH THE EYE OF A NEEDLE, then for a rich man to enter the kingdom of GOD”. Obvisely ABRAHAM WAS A VERY RICH MAN, AND SO WAS KING DAVID AND IDO BELIEVE THEY WILLBE IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD. AND IF JESUS WAS REFERENCING A REAL CAMBEL, THAT WOULD NOT BE “HARDER” THAT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE, RIGHT?

Demon has evolved from a Koine Greek word that meant much what our English word spirit does today. Devil has the same source and means accuser. The actual word James uses is daimonia and them describes both faith and acts to it. Daimonia despite the inference from Scriptures does not mean evil spirit as it can used to describe gods, spirit beings, ghosts, elves, fairies, angels, or even personifications.
James is clearly using it in the sense of creature to point out that even demons, who are among the damned, have faith on God and perform the work of trembling before his wrath. In this case James is calling both angels and spirit creatures by their class instead specifying one or the other.
Legion, an evil spirit or spirits, holds a conversation with Jesus by using a human host.
Jesus, like the Pharisees clearly believed in evil spirit creature or he would not have asked Legion for his name.
The goal of the interview is to eventually learn the name of the evil spirit.
The exorcist then uses the power of the demonic spirit’s own name to “overpower” it, by round after round of scripted ritual actions involving threats and rebukes, getting more intense and invasive with each effort. A few ceremonies on record reached the point of actually “beating” the demon out, but most simply involved verbal coercion.
Jesus only used verbal coercion and faith even in the strongest case of possession so I consider other methods false.

LOOK I ONLY HAVE PUT TOGETHER WHAT I HAVE READ IN SCRIPTURES ABOUT SPIRITS AND IT IS CLEAR SPIRITS COME IN DIFFERENT KIND AND TYPES THERE IS CLEAN AND UNCLEAN, THERE IS THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM, SPIRIT OF TRUTH, AND ONAND ON IT GOES, ALL THESE TYPES AND KINDS OF SPIRITS IMPUT THERE SPECIFIC ATRIBUTES OF INTELLECTS INTO OUR MINDS. GOD IS SPIRIT HE WAS IN JESUS DRIVING HIS MIND AND THROUGHT TO BRING ABOUT HIS PURPOSES, JUST AS IT SAYS “GOD WAS “IN” JESUS (by the christos, or anointing spirit) reconciling the world unto himself. You are confusing the definitions of spirits.
The Koine word translated demon is a broad class of things including supernatural creatures and word construct such as personifications.
One definition of the English word spirit is a close fit for the Koine word translated demon.
I am not speaking of that definition.
I am speaking of the evil spirits that held an intelligent conversation with Jesus. The same spirits the Pharisees believed in but the Sadducees did not.
The Sadducees believed in the spirit of truth but not in creatures called evil spirits.

Nick……AGAIN WITH THE “ACCUSITORY” SPIRIT, What i am saying is spirits have intellegence and they inpart their type or kind of intellect to others. Even as GOD IMPARTS HIS KNOWLEDGE (INTELLEGENCE) TO US and JESUS by his spirits. KNOWLEDGE IS INTELLECT no matter how you put it, EVEN A SIMPLETON SHOULD BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THAT. If you are UNABLE to put that together then you simply are a ignorant person. IT TAKES NO SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE TO UNDERSTAND THAT. IMO
