    Hi Wakeup:

The problem is that you have not read all that Jesus said in John 6 in context.  The Jews were offended because he was speaking about eating his flesh and drinking his flesh………..

The Jews were also confused that Jesus, a man whose parents they all knew, said he came down from heaven.

But not one of them failed to understand WHAT he said.  They just didn't understand WHY he would say such a thing.

I believe my Lord literally came down from heaven – just like he said he did.

    Do you?

    Mike,

Do believe that those who do not eat Jesus' literal flesh and literal blood will not enter the kingdom of heaven?

Do you instead believe Jesus was speaking metaphorically?

In each case why do you believe what you do?

    Hi Mike:

Of course, I do.  Jesus said this:

    Quote

    Jhn 6:31

Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.

    Jhn 6:32

Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.

    Jhn 6:33

For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

    Quote

    Luk 1:31

And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

    Luk 1:32

He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

    Luk 1:33

And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

    Quote

    Jhn 6:51

I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

(And so, the body, his flesh was conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the virgin Mary, and he was raised by Joseph and Mary under the Law of Moses.  At the age of 12 we see him in the synagogues discussing the scriptures with the lawyers, and the scripture states that he grew in favor and stature with God and man, and at the age of thirty, he was anointed with the Holy Ghost and power and began his ministry to humanity as God's Christ)

And he explained what he meant by his statement about eating his flesh:

    Quote

    Jhn 6:63

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

(so the body of Jesus came down from heaven as the scriptures described and the Words that he spoke to humanity came down from heaven, and that he obeyed even unto death on the cross came down from heaven.  It was God dwelling with him and whom was speaking to humanity through him.  He said that it was the Words that God was speaking through him that gave life to those who believe in his testimony.

I have already posted scriptures from Hebrews 1:1-2, and from John 12 that shows that it was God speaking to humanity through him, but here is another:)

    Quote

    Jhn 14:10
Beleviest thou that I am in the Father and the Father, in me?the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself but the Father that dwelleth in me, He doeth the works.

    Do you?

    Hi Wakeup:

The scripture states that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Ghost in the womb of the virgin Mary, but he was born of a woman under the Law, meaning that he was just like any other Jewish lad who was being raised by Jewish parents under the Law. He was not filled with the Holy Ghost until he was baptized in the Jordan river and sent forth in his ministry, having been anointed with the Holy Ghost and power. (I have given you scripture to show that this latter statement is true, and that is all I can do)

    Quote

    Gal 4:4
But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

Now, the scriptures do state that John the Baptist was filled with the Holy Ghost from the womb.

    Quote

    Luk 1:13
But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John
    Luk 1:14
And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.
    Luk 1:15
For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.

But the scriptures do not say this about Jesus as far as I can tell. If you have scripture to show that he was filled with the Holy Ghost from the womb, please post it.

    Mike,

Do believe that those who do not eat Jesus' literal flesh and literal blood will not enter the kingdom of heaven?

Do you instead believe Jesus was speaking metaphorically?

In each case why do you believe what you do?

    Kerwin.

    When you read the scriptures;
are you not moved sometimes by those words in print.
Does it not stirrup your spirit?
Well that's because of the *spirit* in those words.

That is *the body of Christ*;and that's what we should eat of. Forget the flesh,he is spirit.

    Mens words also have a spirit;
    The spirit of anger.
    The spirit of love.
    The spirit of deceiving.
    The spirit of envy.
    The spirit of lying.

If one read a sad story book;one sometimes cry.
Because of *the spirit* of sadness is in the words.

that is true ,BUT THE WAY I UNDERSTAND THOSE WORDS IS LIKE THIS :

MOST PEOPLE BELIEVE THAT THOSE WORDS MEAN ,THAT IT IS GOD THAT IS PULLING YOU ,THIS I DO NOT BELIEVE ,

    THE WAY I UNDERSTAND IT AS A WHOLE IN SCRIPTURES ,IS THAT ;

IT IS OURSELF WHO ARE EITHER ARE ATTRACTED TO THE THINGS OF GOD (SPIRITUALITY OF GOD'S UNDERSTANDING)OR WE DO NOT AND LIVE A LIFE IN THE FLESH,

SEE THERE IS THE DIFFERENCE ;BUT NO WHERE IN SCRIPTURES IT SAYS ABOUT DRAWN AS PULLING US, BUT MORE DRAWN AS INVITING US TO JOIN,HIM,

DID I ADDRESSED THIS RIGHT ???

THIS IS WHERE “BELIEVING IN CHRIST IS THE POWER OF GOD, DO NOT BELIEVE AND WE REJECT LIFE IT SELVES ,RIGHT ???

The Greek word translated “Word” in John 1 including John 1:14 is “Logos” and it means “the sayings of God” and these sayings of God involved a plan to reconcile His children unto Himself through Jesus.

And so, the sayings of God pertain to Jesus and God's sending forth His Son into the world at a specified point in time which He did.

And so, the way I interpret John 1:14 is that those sayings of God pertaining to Jesus became a reality.

If you will look at a Greek interlinear New Testament you will see the that underneath the word “Logos” will be the English word “sayings”.

    Love in Christ,
    Marty

A few scriptures to make it more clear.

John 6:44   *No man can come to me*, except the Father which hath sent me *draw him*: and I will raise him up at the last day.

John 12:32   And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will *draw all men unto me*.

God has many ways to draw his children out fo babylon.
Jesus is the magnet; only certain metals can a magnet draw.

    true ,God never changes ;BUT YOU SEEM TO HAVE MADE ,HIM DIFFERENT IN HIS OWN ACTIONS ;

NEVER DID GOD DREW ANYONE ,EITHER IN TRUTH,RIGHTEOUSNESS
    OR EVIL WAYS ,

IT IS TRUE THAT GOD ;AS USED THE EVIL OF MEN, AND THE RIGHTEOUS TO SHOW THE DEEDS OF THEM BOTH ,

AND SO ALWAYS ;INVITING ALL MEN TO DO GOOD AND SHY EVIL ,

THIS IS THE BASE OF OUR OWN SALVATION

    Kerwin.

    When you read the scriptures;
are you not moved sometimes by those words in print.
Does it not stirrup your spirit?
Well that's because of the *spirit* in those words.

That is *the body of Christ*;and that's what we should eat of. Forget the flesh,he is spirit.

    Mens words also have a spirit;
    The spirit of anger.
    The spirit of love.
    The spirit of deceiving.
    The spirit of envy.
    The spirit of lying.

If one read a sad story book;one sometimes cry.
Because of *the spirit* of sadness is in the words.

    Wakeup,

My purpose was to point out that a “literal” interpretation can be a foolish interpretation.  Mike did not answer my questions but you chose to use them to make your own point, though I am unclear how it relates to my own words.

Words can be used to evoke and appeal to emotion but Jesus' words are meant to appeal to the desire for the Spirit in those that hunger and thirst for righteousness.  Jesus' “flesh” and “blood” fill those desires. Am I understanding you correctly.

Can you not understand that those were Jesus words?

John 6:44 *No man can come to me*, except the Father which hath sent me *draw him*: and I will raise him up at the last day.

You are arguing against Jesus, not me,for those are not my words.
