Quote (942767 @ Sep. 04 2013,04:36) Quote (terraricca @ Sep. 04 2013,03:54) Quote (942767 @ Sep. 03 2013,21:17) The Word “Christ” means “the anointed one”, but then there is the “doctrine of Christ or of the anointed one” which is the Word of God that God spoke to humanity through the anointed one, and the Word that the anointed one obeyed without sin unto death on the cross. 2Jo 1:6And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.2Jo 1:8
Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
2Jo 1:9
Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

MartyQuote Was Tatian a Christian? He gave his interpretation of the scriptures. His opinion. did you check what tatian said with scriptures ,or just went strait to his background to see if you can disqualify him as some one of bad reputation ,
this way does not bring truth in any way ;it just prevent you to come to it ;
it is not all that call and say LORD ,LORD, that are the true believers ,the preaching they do can stand on there own wisdom,TRUTH AND SCRIPTURES
Hi Pierre:Did he use scripture to give his opinion, as I did above, or did he just make a statement?
Love in Christ,

MartyI did not see that Tatian ,needed a scripture,
Quote but then there is the “doctrine of Christ or of the anointed one” which is the Word of God that God spoke to humanity through the anointed one, and the Word that the anointed one obeyed without sin unto death on the cross. but I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE ONE OR TWO ON THIS OPINION OF YOURS ;
SO PLEASE TELL ME

2Jn 1:1 The elder,
To the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in the truth—and not I only, but also all who know the truth—
2Jn 1:2 because of the truth, which lives in us and will be with us forever:2Jn 1:3 Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father’s Son, will be with us in truth and love.
2Jn 1:4 It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us.
2Jn 1:5 And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another.
2Jn 1:6 And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.
2Jn 1:7 Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.
2Jn 1:8 Watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully.
2Jn 1:9 Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.
2Jn 1:10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him.
2Jn 1:11 Anyone who welcomes him shares in his wicked work.
2Jn 1:12 I have much to write to you, but I do not want to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to visit you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete.Quote Hi Pierre: Did he use scripture to give his opinion, as I did above, or did he just make a statement?
He (Tatian) did he ad TV, BOOKS, Internet, Computer, was he rich ?,or under what condition did he GIVE THIS STATEMENT IN 165 AD ?
THIS IS WERE MODERN CHRISTIANS HAVE FAILT ALL THE WAY ; MOST ARE FOOLS THAT THINK THAT BECAUSE YOU KNOW A FEW SCRIPTURES IN YOUR HEAD ,OR READ IT A COUPLES TIME ,YOU KNOW ARE AN EXPERT IN GIVEN THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD TO OTHERS ; NO YOU ARE NOT ;YOU ARE PURELY DISTRIBUTING YOUR OWN VIEWS AND INTERPRETATION OF OPINIONS ,
THE TRUTH OF GOD IS WHAT WE OBTAIN BY TRULLY BELIEVING IN HIM AND IN THE ONE HE AS SEND WITH RESTRICTION ,WHOLE HEART AND SOUL ,AND IN TRUTH .IF YOU WANT SCRIPTURES FOR THIS STATEMENT I WILL SHOW YOU ,
ONE MORE THING IF THE TRUTH WAS IN YOU ,THEN WHY DO YOU NOT SPEEK IT BUT IT SEEMS TO ME YOU ARE STRONGER TO DEFEND YOURSELF THAN THE TRUTH ,THIS LOOKS MORE LIKE PHARISEES PRACTICE THAN ANYTHING ELSE ;
THIS ALSO IF YOU WANT SCRIPTURES I CAN SHOW THEM TO YOUI DO UNDERSTAND WHAT IT FEEL LIKE TO HAVE TO DEFEND WHAT CANNOT BE DEFENDED ,I KNOW I HAVE BEEN THEIR ,BUT I TURNED INTO MY ADVANTAGE ,AND START TO CHANGE AND DEEPLY LOOKING INTO WHY I COULD NOT DEFEND IT ,THAT IS WHEN THE LIGHT HID ME ; BECAUSE EITHER I WAS IGNORANT OR IT WAS NOT THE TRUTH OF GOD ,

Marty.I have found your comment contradictory to scriptures.
John 6:48 **I am that bread of life**.
John 6:49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
John 6:50 *This is the bread* which cometh down from heaven, that a man *may eat thereof*, and not die.
John 6:51 *I am the living bread* which came down from heaven: if any man *eat of this bread*, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give *is my flesh*, which I will give for the life of the world.
John 6:52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? (ARE YOU ONE OF THOSE JEWS)?
John 6:53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except *ye eat the flesh of the Son of man*, and *drink his blood*, ye have no life in you.
John 6:54 Whoso *eateth my flesh*, and *drinketh my blood*, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
John 6:55 For my flesh is *meat indeed*, and my blood is *drink indeed*.
John 6:56 He that *eateth my flesh*, and *drinketh my blood*, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
John 6:57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that *eateth me*, even he shall live by me.
John 6:58 This is *that bread* which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that *eateth of this bread* shall live for ever.

THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH;HE IS THE DOCTRINE.

The problem is that you have not read all that Jesus said in John 6 in context. The Jews were offended because he was speaking about eating his flesh and drinking his flesh, and many who were following him stopped following him because of this, but he explained what he meant in verse 63:
Quote
John 6:57 As the Living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.Jhn 6:58
This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
Jhn 6:59
These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.
Jhn 6:60
¶
Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?Jhn 6:61
When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?
Jhn 6:62
What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
Jhn 6:63
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
Quote
12:46I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
Jhn 12:47
And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Jhn 12:48
He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
Jhn 12:49
For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
Jhn 12:50
And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

September 7, 2013 at 10:41 pm#357091kerwinParticipantQuote (t8 @ Sep. 03 2013,11:58) Quote (kerwin @ Sep. 03 2013,06:07) It is written: Matthew 4:4
Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Some believe:
Matthew 4:4
An interpretation of the Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by the preexistent Christ.
Is it truth or tradition?
Why?
First off there is Rhema and the Logos. The logos is within God or an attribute of God just as truth is.
But truth and logos and wisdom while being of God can also exist in others including Christ. In fact I would go as far to say that Christ is the Word of God, Wisdom, and the Truth.Just because there are attributes, that does not mean that there are not others who personify these things of God.
Further, Jesus said he was the Truth did he not, and yet he was not claiming to be an attribute of God. And yes he is the Word of God and the Word was WITH God.
Jesus even changed people's names to reflect what they were to become. Sons of Thunder was one name change if I remember rightly. And we who are saved also get a new name written that no one knows but he who receives the name. I am willing to bet that the names will reflect what part of God's character we reflect the most. Wisdom, Love, Grace, etc.
T8,I am trying to figure out what you are getting to.
As far as I understand the logos and rhema are two attributes of the Word though they sometimes are used synonymously. I am unclear on the details.
In this case either or both logos or rhema can be used and the statement of faith remains true.
I do not believe rhema can be personified by a person as I believe it is the letter but I believe logos can as it is the intent. I believe Jesus has personified the Logos ever since he received the Spirit, and that occurred in his mother's womb. I believe God has eternally personified the logos and that the logos has eternally been with him.
Jesus has been the logos since the logos was made flesh (manifest) in him but the logos has been with God and personified by God from eternity.
Jesus changed names as a name in that time was believed to describe the essence of the person. Jesus' Hebrew name means Yahweh saves and sums up who he is. Being called by the name of the Word and being called faithful and true tells us who Jesus is.

The Jews were also confused that Jesus, a man whose parents they all knew, said he came down from heaven. But not one of them failed to understand WHAT he said. They just didn't understand WHY he would say such a thing.
I believe my Lord literally came down from heaven – just like he said he did.
Do you?
Hi Mike:Of course, I do. Jesus said this:
Quote Jhn 6:31
Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
Jhn 6:32
Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
Jhn 6:33
For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
Quote Luk 1:31
And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
Luk 1:32
He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
Luk 1:33
And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
Quote
Jhn 6:51I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
(And so, the body, his flesh was conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the virgin Mary, and he was raised by Joseph and Mary under the Law of Moses. At the age of 12 we see him in the synagogues discussing the scriptures with the lawyers, and the scripture states that he grew in favor and stature with God and man, and at the age of thirty, he was anointed with the Holy Ghost and power and began his ministry to humanity as God's Christ)
And he explained what he meant by his statement about eating his flesh:
Quote
Jhn 6:63It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
(so the body of Jesus came down from heaven as the scriptures described and the Words that he spoke to humanity came down from heaven, and that he obeyed even unto death on the cross came down from heaven. It was God dwelling with him and whom was speaking to humanity through him. He said that it was the Words that God was speaking through him that gave life to those who believe in his testimony.
I have already posted scriptures from Hebrews 1:1-2, and from John 12 that shows that it was God speaking to humanity through him, but here is another:)
