2012 – What will happen

I am sure you are aware of 21 December 2012 being the supposed end of the world/age. The reasoning behind this is that the sun will align with the galactic centre on that date after the full eclipse of the sun and eclipse of the moon which both have already happened this year.

In case you are not aware about what the fuss is about, I will explain. The Earth's rotational axis is not fixed and is like a rotating top that spins with a slight wobble. In the Earth's case, the wobble does a cycle every 26,000 years which means that every 72 years or so, the sky we view moves one degree. At some point the Sun is exactly positioned in the centre of our Milky Way.

However, you must remember that this is only true from our earthly perspective. If you were elsewhere, then that would not be the case or you could get the same alignment any time so long as you were free to wander in space. In addition to that, Nasa says that you cannot pinpoint such a “galactic alignment” to within a year, much less a day. The alignment depends on the rather arbitrary modern definition of the galactic equator, and/or the visual appearance of the Milky Way. There is no precise definition of the Milky Way's edges — they are very vague and depend on the clarity of your view.

So knowing this, what do you think will happen. Is it wise to look to the stars for signs like the Magi did with the birth of Christ or is this just the worse of astrology combined with JW style predictions of the end of the world that never happened.
