Seven Gentile Empires

The Beast

The dragon stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on its horns, and on each head a blasphemous name.

The Beast of Revelation represents seven empires that ruled in succession in the area around the Great Sea, the Mediterranean. These seven empires are a historical fact that fits perfectly with the Beast of Revelation and what it means. From our view in history, we can see that the seven empires were:

Egypt – 3100 to 677 BC (Genesis 12:10)
Assyria – 677 to 626 BC (Genesis 2:14)
Babylon – 626 – 539 BC (Daniel 1:1)
Medo-Persia – 539 – 449 BC (Daniel 5:28)
Greecia – 449 – 146 BC (Daniel 10:20)
Rome – 146 BC-476 AD eastern leg / 1453 AD western leg or Byzantium (Daniel 9:26 & Romans 1-7)
Ottoman – 1453 – 1924 AD (Future empire when Revelation was written, but historical empire today)

Notice that this Beast is no more today in 2021. The reign of empires ended at the conclusion of WWI when the Ottoman army fought alongside Germany and Austria-Hungary. They were defeated in October 1918. If the Ottoman Empire was the last empire or the seventh head of the beast, then it partially fits with the following verse.

And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.”

For it to fully fit though, an eighth king or kingdom which comes from the seventh would need to arise in the future. That could be another Islamic Caliphate especially considering the seventh in this view was an Islamic caliphate. Further, given the spread of Islam which dominates this part of the world (around the Great Sea) and which has recently infiltrated Western Europe, it seems that an Islamic Caliphate would be the most likely empire to rise from this region. Forget America, China, India, Australia, etc. These are not located around the Great Sea. These empires and countries are not part of the Beast with seven heads and 10 horns.

Revelation 17:8
The beast, which you saw, once was, now is not, and yet will come up out of the Abyss and go to its destruction.,

Revelation 17:11:
The beast who once was, and now is not, is an eighth king. He belongs to the seven and is going to his destruction.

Daniel 7:1-3
In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, Daniel had a dream, and visions passed through his mind as he was lying in bed. He wrote down the substance of his dream. Daniel said: “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me were the four winds of heaven churning up the great sea. Four great beasts, each different from the others, came up out of the sea.

Revelation 13:1
“And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.”

It is also possible that the eighth king / kingdom to come could be from the seven heads (not seventh head). This would mean it is comprised of all empires that came out of the Great Sea previously. Now look at the next verse.

You saw the iron mixed with clay–the peoples will mix with one another but will not hold together, just as iron does not mix with fired clay.

Regarding the iron mixed with clay, it is worth noting that the word for ‘clay’ in Aramaic is ‘arab’. After the two legs of iron in the statue (Rome) , we see the toes are mixed with iron and clay. In other words it appears that two peoples will live side by side but their seed will not mingle. And indeed we see this with the break up of the Roman Empire and the Ottoman invasions. The invaders (Arabs) mixed with the iron (Romans) but never became one people.

Of the seven empires in the Book of Revelation, Daniel addressed four and perhaps a fifth with the mixture of iron and clay. His revelation was focussed around his time however and not as wide in scope as the Book of Revelation.

Berean…….the Unied States , and it’s allies have deviored the whole earth and broke it in pieces there has never been any kingdom who has esihibited more power and devestation then these modern day kingdoms and Nations on this earth right now. We have witensed death and destruction like no other kingdoms or natins in the history of mankind. We certainly are different then any other kingdoms before us, because of our massive military wepons of war. As I have said even a small modern nation of today could easely have defeated any of all the empires before that existed before us.

Remember Daniel prophesied about (Six) World rulling Empires , Five comming from Babylon, and the one to come next, the Sixth, which will rule the whole world, Jesus Christ and the Saints, the next world rulling kingdom to come on this earth. We could even live to see it come I believe it will most likely be here within 35, years.

And at the end of that millennium regin Satan will be released from his prison and a Seventh Kingdom which will be be a revised Babyloian kingdom, (the deadly wound inflicted on it when Jesus comes will be heald) and it (the seventh will combine with The realeased Satan) for a short time 3–1/2 years, and t he comes the end when God the Father return and the second resurrection takes place.

Peace and love to you and yours. ……….gene

So Berean, why do you have a different standard with the Ottoman Empire. Remember when you said this?

Do you honestly believe that the whole world (except true Christians) is going to love this so-called Islamic beast…????

May the Lord open our ears to hear His Word.

Yes, this has happened. The Middle East is predominately Muslim and the few Christians who are left are persecuted and killed on a daily basis.

Gene, why are you debating your theory here as if it was credible enough to make posts and keep a straight face. Seriously, you need to dig deep with scripture. Not just take what you read and apply it to your own experience. Anyone can do what you have done in a matter of minutes, but few would actually believe it. A person who handles the Word of God with respect and with a heart to know truth digs deep. You might need to buy a new spade Gene. The gold is deep.

In symbolic prophecy such as this, a day symbolizes a literal year

    (Eze 4:6; Num 14:34). 1260 days = 1260 years.

And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

    Hi Berean,

The ‘Abomination of Desolation’ (dome of the rock mosque) was set up in 688ad.
That is when the woman (Israel) fled to the nations as Jesus Prophesied.
    688 + 1,260 years = 1948 – The year Israel returned as a Nation

“Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things?
Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or
shall a nation be born at once?” (Isaiah 66:8)

Edj and t8. ……Islam did not even exist when John said there were many antichrists already in his day. You people just force the text to say what in fact it does not say or ever hint at. The word Antichrist addressing the Gnostic’s of early christanity. In the time of the apostles.

Lol. So no future antichrists, they only existed before the prophecy.

    This is getting worse; lol.

T8…… John never gave that as a prophesy of anykind, Antichrists existed at the time John coined the word ANITCHRIST, would help if you even understood what the word “Antichrist” actually means. It doesn’t mean (anti- Jesus) as you falsely assume, it means against the “anointing” of Jesus. Once you understand that, then see if you ever heard a Moslim ever say Jesus was not a prophet of God. In fact they teach Jesus was indeed a prophet of God as they beleve Mohamad was.

antichrist–denying the Father and the Son

Gene, antichrists deny the son and that God is a Father. .

Muslims do not believe Jesus died for our sins. Clearly this is another Jesus they believe in, but perhaps the one you teach is the same one? Is this what you would have me believe?

Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichristdenying the Father and the Son.

Further, a person who denies Jesus is the Christ is antichrist so they are denying who Jesus is. I never said that a person that denies Jesus is the Antichrist as you falsely claim. You should probably take that one to YHWH ands say sorry for bearing false witness.

So antichrists deny the Father and the Son. This makes Islam an antichrist religion according to the biblical definition of ‘antichrist’.

Then what do we see in history. Christians persecuted, murdered, decapitated, and forced to worship a God who has no son and to bow down prostate multiple times per day. Sounds like the sort of things we read in scripture as to what would take place. Now Christians are almost extinct where these empires existed.

    1 John 2:18

“Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.” … And as you have heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. By this we know that it is the last hour.”

There are many antichrists, but also a specific antichrist that would arise. ‘That Antichrist’.

T8……Your errors is you are making the Word Antichrist mean anti Jesus, that is not the actual definition of the word.

The word Anitchrist means against the “ANOINTING OF JESUS ” which you deny also, by saying he was born anointed which by the way is exactly what the GNOSTIC’S PREACHED . Had you taken the word as exactly what it means, you would realize John was talking about people who denied Jesus was a pure human being what as all humans had to become anointed as all flesh being do. You as well as those Gnostic’s claim he prexisted and only appeared as a human being, but was a morphed being “desguised” as a flesh and blood human who did not have to be anointed after his berth because he was already anointed, you are in that way denying his fleshness, As well as his Anointing process clearly laid out in scriptures at the Jordan river.

… And as you have heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come.

And what happened? A new religion arose that all but made Christians extinct, A religion that teaches God is not a Father because he has no son. A religion that decapitates its rivals the Jews and Christians. A religion that is also a political system and law which embodied itself into an empire when it conquered the Roman Empire.

T8…..Islam religion didn’t start to around 700 AD. YOUR again confusing the Gnostic’s with Islam. Why not make a historic inquire of the Islam religion, before you start forcing thing into our text, as all false teachers do.

It was Gene. Your view is the view of many. Basically many believe that the Empire fell into disrepair and was eventually overtaken by these tribes. This is only half the truth. The full picture however is what makes this eschatology a serious contender. I will explain what happened when I have some time.

… You saw the iron mixed with clay–the peoples will mix with one another but will not hold together, just as iron does not mix with fired clay.

If the legs of iron were Rome and the two legs the East and West, then the last kingdom is a mixture of that iron but with clay.

Did you know that the word ‘mixed’ here is actually the word ‘arab‘ in Aramaic. Further, if the iron is the Roman Empire and the mixing of clay is infiltration or taking over by Arabs as we see with the Ottoman Empire’s takeover of the Roman Empire, then it could happen once again where Arabs/Muslims takeover parts of Europe and continue to hold the Middle East as they do today.

Perhaps those who predict a revived Roman Empire’ are correct. Accept it may not be ruled by Romans/Europeans, but Muslims who are immigrating and invading Europe in hordes.

The Muslim population in Europe has a much higher birth-rate than the native Europeans who are in decline. It is immigration that bolsters Europe’s population and if Muslims in Europe become large enough, Europe or parts of it could become Islamic states in the future. If this were to happen, Israel could easily find itself surrounded by enemies much further afield too. Israel is of course already surrounded by enemies, but there may not be a sympathetic Europe in the future to help protect them if the Islamic world were to invade Israel at some point. If Muslims could rule not only the Middle East but a future Europe too or large swathes of it, then that would only leave only the USA as a partner for Israel. While the USA could remain a friend of Israel in years to come, they may also reject Israel, or perhaps the USA itself could fall. The latter two would leave Israel on their own. Of course this is all speculation, but it is good to keep an open mind on this as there are many ways this could all play out.

    Muammar Gaddafi once said:

We have 50 million Muslims in Europe. There are signs that Allah will grant Islam victory in Europe—without swords, without guns, without conquest—will turn it into a Muslim continent within a few decades.
Speech (10 April 2006), quoted in New York Sun (6 September 2009)

    Who conquered the Roman Beast?

T8…..Another thing, the Roman Empire was not defeated by islam it was the norther Germatic tribes of Europe who defeated them. The Moslim’s came later, As I recall.

In scripture and history we see that each Beast (kingdom) was succeeded by the next, i.e., Babylon was conquered by Persia which was conquered by Greece which was conquered by Rome. So it would be logical to think then that whoever conquered Rome could be the next Beast if we follow this pattern. However, many remain confused about who conquered Rome because they believe that the Roman Empire just fell into decline rather than being conquered by a succeeding empire. What many do not consider is that the Roman Empire had two legs, the western leg and eastern leg and this is even pictured in the statue of Daniel’s vision in Daniel 2:32-33:

“The head of that statue was made of fine gold, its breast and its arms of silver, its belly and its thighs of bronze, its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay.

While the western leg did decline over time, the eastern leg continued to exist for another thousand years. Think of Constantinople rather than Rome. So while we may view Rome as the centre of the Roman Empire, in the last period of this empire, the capital was moved to Constantinople in the east which is now modern day Istanbul in Turkey by Roman Emperor Constantine who named the capital after himself. This period of the Roman Empire is often referred to as the Byzantine Empire hence why there is some confusion as to how the Roman Empire was conquered. Rest assure however that the Byzantine Empire was the Roman Empire. It is called by this name to identify this phase of the Roman Empire.

Historians do not consider the Eastern Roman Empire as being a different empire from the Roman Empire when its capital was Rome. The east did not conquer the west, instead the same empire just moved its capital from Rome to Constantinople. Both the Eastern Roman Empire and Byzantine Empire terminology are terms created after the end of the realm. Its citizens continued to refer to their empire as the Roman Empire. and themselves as Roman citizens.

So who conquered the Roman (Byzantine) Empire? It was the Ottoman Empire which was actually the first Islamic Caliphate. So the seventh empire spoken of by John appears to have already been fulfilled, it was the Ottoman Empire. Known as a Caliphate, it initially took control of the region and it said to have reached empire status when it conquered the Roman capital of Constantinople. It subsequently became the capital of the Ottoman Empire and was renamed to ‘Istanbul’.

In case you think that the Ottoman Empire was not significant enough to be compared with the other empires that make up the Beast, then know this. It reigned from 1299 to around 1924. It could be argued that the Ottoman Empire was more of a state until 1453 when it conquered Constantinople. At the height of its power, it controlled much of Southeast Europe, the Caucasus, Western Asia, and North Africa including the Horn of Africa.
