    AndrewAD,

Jesus ascended to heaven in a flesh and bone body.

He is the human being that serves as the mediator between humanity and God.

“knowing Christ after the flesh” is knowing him after the sinful nature and not after the Spirit. (2 Corinthians 5:12-18)

    Kerwin,

2Cor 5:12-18 refers not to “sinful flesh” as you say but as to knowing Jesus as a physical man.And even Paul never knew Jesus personally in the flesh. And Paul in his teachings claims Jesus is a spirit and flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God,when referring to the resurrection.

How do you know Jesus? have you met him physically? or with your sinful nature? or do you just think you know him in your mind?

    AndrewAD,

Many know Jesus after the flesh as it is only Spiritual humans that know him after the Spirit.

In knowing Jesus after the flesh Paul persecuted Christians but in knowing him after the Spirit he preached the gospel.

I hope to learn to know him better after the Spirit and less after the flesh.

    AndrewAD,

Matthew tells the generation of Jesus Christ from Joseph’s point of view. (Matthew 2:13) The genealogy in there is his.

Luke tells the generation of Jesus Christ from Mary’s point of view.(Luke 2:51) The genealogy in there is hers.

Mary, a daughter of David through Nathan married Joseph a son of David through Solomon.

I had never heard the claim that both genealogies are for Joseph before.

Romans 1:3 teaches us that Jesus was made of the seed of David, as the flesh, and Galatians 4:4 teaches us he was made of a woman. Since Marry is the woman he was made of it follow that she is also called the Seed he is made of.

    T8,

Did you misspeak when you said “I worship Jesus as the son of God”?

I know the AV of the KJV uses worship in reference to Jesus and King David but unless the meaning of the word has changed over time that is a mistaken translation.

I also know your English is slightly different than mine as I live in a different country.

Here is what I am saying.
… Then the men in the boat began to worship Jesus, saying,
“You certainly are the Son of God!” …

… When God was about to send his firstborn Son into the world,
he said, “All of God’s angels must worship him.” …

Thus I am saying I do the same as the disciples, but I pointed out that the word ‘worship’ has a number of different meanings, such as honour, bow down, worship.

I then say I honour Jesus as the son of God and if I worship him, it is as honour to the son of God, not as God himself . The same with the Lamb of God.

… and crying with a great voice, saying, ‘The salvation is to Him who is
sitting upon the throne — to our God, and to the Lamb!’ …

Your post led me to believe you hardly read what I was saying before you gave a critique.

Andrew has no point at all says terraricca? Well if we honour God and honour Jesus and according to T8 we can also honour King David and other saints in the same way then I hear a faint cry from Rome calling us home.

Andrew Catholic’s can hear Rome clear as a bell.

T8 is it wrong to love two the same, to be before your savior, I get it, honor to each in their own right. Warriors do such things.

It’s not wrong to honour more than one. We are told to honour our parents. Its just that we do not honour them as God. Pretty simple really. Why is this even a debate? I honour my mother as my mother, Jesus as the son of God, and the Father as the Almighty.

Princess, apparently T8 hears those bells too by saying we can “honour” or worship saints in the same way as Christ

    Kerwin,

You never heard both geneaologies are through Joseph before? you should read Luke for yourself then instead of being so seduced by the whore and her slut daughters teachings.

    AndrewAD,

I have been a member of both the Seventh Day Adventist and Church of Christ and heard their teachings. I have looked at others and never heard what you claim out if the mouth of those that claim they were Christians. If I think about it someone mentioned it in passing in something I read.

Perhaps I have cultural bias but calling a man’s son-in-law his son is nothing new under the sun.

I actually looked and found a cometary that Jewish custom is remove the mother’s name and put the father’s in its stead so it seems they are similar to my culture.

    Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary

ere His real, there His reputed line—explain the statement about Joseph, that he was “the son of Hell,” to mean that he was his son-in-law, as the husband of his daughter Mary (as in Ru 1:11, 12), and believe that Joseph’s name is only introduced instead of Mary’s, in conformity with the Jewish custom in such tables.

    Dear Princess,

Why should you trust the twisted logic of all this religious philosophizing when you can come home to Rome and have your girly God.You can have your bread and eat it too.

Only foolish humans do not seek to correctly understand God’s word. The culture of the period of the time when a book is written is critical to understanding it correctly.

It would not be needed if we had not forgotten so much.

One need only to read it as it is written quite plainly concerning our topic. It’s you and your commentaries who add to what it plainly says in order to make it fit your theology. It’s you who are foolish quite simply.

Can you explain it in Greek to make it say what you want? and was Nathan the son of David that the prophecies speak of? No! plain and simple

    Andrew,

The English is fine but it is the practices of the Jews of that day that confuse the issue of those that lack knowledge. Swapping out the name of the wife for the husband and calling him the son of her father may confuse those whose culture does not have the concept. Even then the fact that Luke is writing Mary’s story of Jesus’ generation and youth is a large clue it is her genealogy and not that of her husband.

The sad thing is that their are ignorant and corrupt teachers that know that know but instead use the lack of knowledge of their students to mislead them.

It really should not be a controversial issue.

    AndrewAd,

I can make a strong case that Solomon’s line is not the genetic line of the Anointed. Since it is Joseph’s line it follows it still has some connection to the the Messiah.

I can also make the case that God has not always chosen a decedent of the last king to make the next king of though he kept the crown in the line of Solomon.

I can also make the case that Solomon angered the Lord so much that ten of the tribes of Israel were removed from him and his descendants while the same is not true of Nathan.

The bottom line in Joseph claimed Jesus as his son as he was a miracle gift from God and to a devout follower of God that would be enough to secure his legitimacy as king. The genetic descent established only that he was a genetic descendant of David.

    Hi KW,

Should you judge the strength of your own case?

    Nick,

It is the Spirit that teaches. It is for others to judge if the case I make comes from the Spirit or from flesh.
