    @Jodi Hi Jodi,
    Dust is not the source of the breath of God.
    Soul and spirit derive from that holy breath.
    The spirit returns to Gd at death ( Eccl 12)

      I didn’t say that the dust was the source of the breath of God, God is the source of our breath.

      This passage shows what I am saying,

      7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

      Breathed – Naphach, to breathe, blow, sniff at, seethe, give up or lose (life)
      (Qal) to breathe, blow
      (Pual) to be blown
      (Hiphil) to cause to breathe out

      Breath — N@shamah, breath, spirit
      a.breath (of God)
      b.breath (of man)
      c.every breathing thing
      d.spirit (of man)

      breath of life
      and man became a living soul

      soul –nepesh, soul, self, life, person, creature, mind, desire, passion

      You have man formed, not a body formed, and then you have that man come to life through the breath of God where he is thus breathing through his nostrils, now that he is breathing through his nostrils he is alive, the man has life, he is a unique living soul = person with his own thoughts, desires, and actions. No breath in this passage represents a human spirit entering into a body and that is what causes the body to be alive. I have asked you before, what does a human spirit do, what does a human brain do?
