Steven Fry on why there is no God

Stephen Fry

Steven Fry recently gave his reasons why he doesn’t believe in God. He also says that if there were a God, then God must be evil and he would not accept God on his terms.

Of course he doesn’t realise that God made everything good in the beginning, and it was angels and men that ruined it.

But there is also another thing to consider. When this world is finished, it will be an eternal testimony as to what happens to a world that rejects God. There will be no more argument about it. The result will put to bed any other rebellion because it will be known to creation what happens when you reject God.

God made sure that when evil happened, he let it run its full course and in full view. He didn’t quietly sweep it under the rug, rather he let it be a witness for creation to see the misery that results from rejecting him. This world is an eternal testimony in this regard and creation gets to witness a part of God they have never seen, i.e., justice, judgement, and grace.

In the end, creation will know full well that a world without God is a miserable world. A person without God is a lost soul. There is no replacement and nothing greater than love. And that God is love. It will put to rest any possibility of us who are saved from ever letting sin enter again.

And as it is written in 1 John 3:9:

No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.
