Quote (terraricca @ Jan. 20 2010,22:35)geneMk 9:43 If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out.in this illustration it shows the fire never goes out and it shows the ones who are trow in to it do not come out of it,is it I believe it is a…[Read more]

Gene,I believe that there is a literal “lake of fire”, although it could be that it is not fire, but will share all the characteristics of fire, in that it will consume all that is thrown into it.As to death and hell being thrown in, I believe this to be mostly literal also. To state why I believe this I must first define what death and hell are.…[Read more]

seekingtruth replied to the topic The cross….not the correct symbol for adoration in the forum Inspirational writings & sermons 14 years, 10 months ago
In my opinion the cross is a world wide recognized icon for Christianity. The larger problem (in my opinion) is it brings with it a history of “so called christians” and the evils done in “his name”. As an icon I believe the cross is as good as the fish symbol or whatever else may be chosen, as long as it remains an icon. As to it being the mark…[Read more]

kejonn,I apologize I did misunderstand you, I have known people who believe that there are many possible, even conflicting, truths. I agree that if you accept there is a supernatural realm then by it's very nature we are unable to verify the truths of it via empirical means and conclusive proof is hard to come by without it. So lacking the ability…[Read more]

17The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.” 18He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but…[Read more]

kejonn,I agree truth is truth, but I totally disagree that there are many truths. I believe truth to be absolute and unchanging. And while there is one all encompassing truth, it is a lifetime pursuit of trying to uncover it, beset with false trails having many advocates trying to pull us in, we resist some truths because they don't fit our pet…[Read more]

Seekingtruth the material on the website you quote is really poor in quality, and contradictory. They are just trying to borrow the respectability of science to lend their own religious views some credibility, but it is mostly lies and strawmen. Stu,So, in other words, you have decided that consciousness MUST NOT be a difficult thing because you need to justify your assertion that consciousness is NOT intimately related to a supernatural world that you have decided does NOT exist.Did I get that right?
