Quote (Is 1:18 @ Feb. 05 2006,05:02)If you are proposing that these Lords and gods are also “divine” than you are truly a polytheist. To Is 1:18,Ok let's see. Jesus says we are gods (theos) and Paul teaches us that we will partake in the divine nature. So am I to conclude o great teacher that Jesus and Paul were polytheist?Again there is egg on you…[Read more]

Quote (Is 1:18 @ Feb. 05 2006,05:02)They usually think that the word 'theos' and 'elohim' always refer to YHWH. Then they take instances of their choosing to prove that Christ is YHWH. In their ignorance they cannot see that there are indeed many god (theos) and many lords, but for true believers there is one God (theos) the FatherThe problem here…[Read more]

Quote (Is 1:18 @ Feb. 05 2006,05:02)God has God’s nature also. You make a big deal of nature and identity as if these are mutually exclusive terms. I think most sound thinking people recognise the fact that only humans have human nature, and only God has divine nature. And while we might one day partake in the divine nature I dont think Peter w…[Read more]

Quote Tell me t8, Do you agree with Colwell’s rule? And if not, why not?Quote Is Theos in John 1:1c qualitative? The most likely candidate is that the last instance of 'theos' (in John 1:1c) is qualitative. This is true both grammatically and theologically. On what do you base this conclusion t8? May I have some grammatical proof please. To Is 1…[Read more]

Quote (Is 1:18 @ Feb. 05 2006,05:02)The absence of the article does not automatically make the predicate indefinite when it precedes the verb, it is indefinite in this position only when the context demands it, according to Colwell. I’ve already addressed the context of John 1:1c in the Trinity thread, and it’s abundantly clear that the con…[Read more]

I personally think that WE have a body and that we are given a spirit that gives us life. So if that is the case, what part is the real us (WE). Well we certainly cannot be the body for that perishes into the dust and we rise again with a spiritual body. Are we the spirit that God breathed into us. I believe that the spirit that God breathed into…[Read more]

Quote (WhatIsTrue @ Feb. 04 2006,09:19)Hybrid,It is not me with which you disagree. It is a clear prophecy from scripture. It is plainly written in the future tense:”…I will make him My firstborn… .”I didn't make that up. It's scripture. So, I would ask you why you disagree with what scripture plainly says. Or better yet, I would ask you…[Read more]

Another factor for differences is in the types of translations. There are usually 2 types of translations:literaldynamic or functional or idiomatic equivalenceThe first approach takes the closest word in the translated language from the original language and may add/take away some words to complete the thought or make the sentence intelligible in…[Read more]

I would say yes to that hybrid.God shares his nature with Christ and then to us. So Christ will have attributes of God just as we can and should. The main differences between God and Christ and us, is that God is a Spirit and eternal, Christ is a being (the firsborn) and we are born into God's family. Now just as Christ is the image of God, we are…[Read more]

Quote (WhatIsTrue @ Feb. 03 2006,09:22)Psalm 89:27 is a Messianic prophecy and defines what is meant by “firstborn”. It reads:”Also I will make him My firstborn, The highest of the kings of the earth.”Notice two things.1. Firstborn is a reference to rank, not time of birth.2. The verb tense in this passage is future tense, meaning that,…[Read more]

To hybrid, Quote (hybrid @ Feb. 03 2006,05:53)but with reference to the statement that “firstborn of beast are themselves animals” and considering again that the son was begotten by god in a “literal sense”… can also make us conclude that god begat god?Yes, God who's nature is divine begat a son who is divine, as the nature of God is in his son.…[Read more]

I was going to start up a discussion on this verse and hello it already exists. Great. I want to add the following information as a possible explanation to how this verse found its way into the KJV. I wasn't there so I don't know for sure, but there is a reason why this verse is not found in most bibles. The first published Greek NT was edited in…[Read more]

Funny thing was he started off talking about GW, but the callers soon got stuck into the Trinity debate. Like we see here, people were either blessing him or were totally against him. The weak arguments that Trinitarians often used were the same weak ones we hear from Tinitarians here. It was interesting just to see how those who were against him…[Read more]

The pattern for firstborn in scripture seems to be that in a literal sense, unless that literal firstborn lost the priveledge to another. In the case of Christ, I would assume that he was literally the firstborn from many other scriptures that appear to teach that. If he isn't then who was the firstborn to loose that priveledge? You may find the…[Read more]

BTW there are a number of discussions that talk about the Trinity and certain aspects of it. We should discuss that subject there. It makes it easier for people to find discussions when they are discussed under an appropriate heading and description. This discussion is about Salvation being a free gift.Try the following Trinity discussions:Trinity…[Read more]

Jesus is worshipped as the son of God and the Lamb. Not as God.Matthew 14:33Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”Revelation 7:10And they cried out in a loud voice: “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.”

I have to admit that this for me is a hard question. I also wonder about war. If we were enlisted to fight against an enemy (like the Nazis) would God allow or want us to kill the enemy. Was it God's will that people went to war and ended the reign of terror that the Nazis brought? If so, then it seems that God allows killing in certain…[Read more]
