Yes man was formed from dust.
And God reminded him of this lowly origin.
Remember man that thou art dust and unto dust thou shalt return.

But the breath of God transformed him into a living (spirit) soul (soul).
The dust does not survive to be of the new creation as flesh and blood cannot enter the kingdom.

Neither does the human spirit which leaves at death as Eccl 12 shows.

Salvation of the SOUL is the plan of God as 1Peter 1.9 tells us and it must live by the the ETERNAL SPIRIT,
the river of life.
