Quote (kerwin @ June 27 2010,14:31)To all.I will say no since God put limits on us and what we call mistakes stem from those limits. On the other hand people have been know to call a mistake a sin and a sin a mistake and doing so is displeasing to God. I admit that sometime I have difficulty telling the difference because a sin can often m…[Read more]

Tim Kraft,I choose to believe that God does not lie. He states that the wicked are reserved for day of destruction and therefore it is true, Job 21:30 and Job 31:3. Since you choose to call God a liar the results are on your head. The good news is that God is just and therefore those that love evil will receive the just punishment of their a…[Read more]

Ed, J,It is quite possible that Paul did mix the usage of soul and spirit but it does not follow from that that the soul and spirit share certain functions in part or whole. It does not follow as language will give different definitions to the same word and therefore two different words can be synonyms in certain usages while being completely…[Read more]

To all,I view the phrase “name of” as being equivalent to the phrase “by the authority of” and Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit have the same authority. Both the authority of Jesus and the Holy Spirit come from God and thus I conclude they have the same authority.Your fellow student,Kerwin

Choosenone,Thank you for giving your interpretation of Matthew 28:19-20. I disagree with it but this thread is not the appropriate place to address that disagreement. Perhaps God will lead us to discuss it at a later date in a more appropriate forum.Your fellow student,Kerwin

Gene.It is true that you cannot come to Jesus except God draws you and the evidence that God draws you is a “contrite heart and a broken spirit”. It is also true that one that lives by the spirit they receive through faith when immersed as Jesus taught teaches does have a “contrite heart and a broken spirit”. Since one must repent before they…[Read more]

Tim Kraft.I assure you that God does not change and he demands righteousness of his people no matter if they are under the old, new, or neither covenant. God is merciful and he expects more of those whom have more and anyone who has entered the new covenant has more as we have Jesus as King and through him we are by the grace of God given the…[Read more]

Gene,The issue here is the difference between faith and denial of the truth. Which man do you think is justified before God the one who denies that he is guilty of sin or the man who goes before God and confesses that he is a sinner and begs to be changed. Is the two men I spoke of not like the Pharisee and the tax collector as the man who s…[Read more]

Tim Kraft,I assure you that the words I hear from you are not the same as I hear from Jesus. Jesus did not teach us to pretend our that we do not sin but rather he taught us to change our ways and do and do what is right. Jesus us did not leave us with just the command to change our ways but gave us the gift of the spirit of holiness by which we…[Read more]

Gene,Consider the message the Peter taught on Pentecost. He specifically instructed those that were cut to the heart to such an extent that they asked him and other apostles what they should do that they must repent and me immersed in the name of Jesus. The reason he gave for doing that is that they would be forgiven of their sins. He also…[Read more]

Tim Kraft,I see you also disagree with 2 Peter 2:1 when we are warned to be on the watch for false teachers who will introduce destructive heresies.I choose to take that and other warnings from God to heart.Your fellow student,Kerwin
kerwin replied to the topic Mistakes and sins in the forum Scriptural Teachings 16 years, 3 months ago
Gene,You are too concerned with being forgiven and not enough with obeying God. In your obsession with forgiveness you turn the grace of God into an excuse to do evil. That is unacceptable. Why should I be concerned with being forgiven as God forgives those who do all he commands. In short if I concern myself with obeying all God commands then…[Read more]

Tim Kraft,It seems that you believe that Paul, Peter, James, et. el were false teachers and therefore served the evil one and were not actually student adherents of Jesus as they claimed. I will not defend them as what they taught is their defense.I will point out that Jesus also taught that the person who loves God obeys God and thus does the…[Read more]
