Georg,I believe that death and aging are at least part of what Romans 8:19-21 is speaking of. You should also consider that the spirit of the Lord can overcome even the effects of that curse if man turns from his wicked ways. It was in these struggles between him and the effects of sin that God grew angry with man and declared their lives would…[Read more]

To all,You should consider that parables are not based on a fictional environment but rather on one the listener can emphasize with. You see this with both the parable of the wayward son in Luke 15:11-32 and with the parable of the lost sheep in Luke 15:3-7. This is also the case with the parable of the rich man and Lazarus as the Jewish…[Read more]

George,From what I understand the soul is the essential nature of a human being while the spirit is the guiding nature. They are not the same though scripture does seem to use the same words for them at times making things confusing. It is my understanding that the spirit is not the mind or the heart but rather works on both. I believe both…[Read more]

Georg,It was not a new doctrine Jesus preached but it is a new covenant. The wine is the Spirit of God as counselor. Jeremiah testifies of it in chapter 31 of the book named after him as the Spirit writes the law on the hearts and mind of those who believe.Jesus did die for mankind since it is only through his death that the Spirit of God is…[Read more]

Georg,The sons of Seth are the descendants of Seth and scripture lays out that line beginning with Seth and not with Enosh, Kenan, Mahalalel, Jared, Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech, or Noah. That line is explicitly called the descendents of Adam while Cain’s line is not. About Cain it is instead written “So Cain went out from the LORD’s prese…[Read more]

Mike Boll,You asked me what scripture states only mortal flesh cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven and I will point out the rest of the verse that states flesh and “blood cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven” which states “the perishable cannot inherit the imperishable”. That may be why Paul previously made the case that all flesh is not the…[Read more]

To all,Here are the definitions of the word “body” from the online Merriam-Webster dictionary. What definition fits the context of Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians 15?1 a : the main part of a plant or animal body especially as distinguished from limbs and head : TRUNK b : the main, central, or principal part: as (1) : the nave of a church (2) : t…[Read more]

Irene,Could you please consider the words in Acts 1:3 which state “After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive.” So it follows that God states Jesus gave many convincing proofs that he is alive to his disciples. Some of these proofs he gave to prove he is alive are listed in Luke 24:36…[Read more]

Georg,When Adam sinned all creation was subject to corruption. I am using “all” in the broad sense since I do not mean the kingdom of heaven. The passage from Romans 8 below answers your question.Romans 8:19-21(NIV) reads:Quote For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected t…[Read more]

Adam,Have you considered that Philo of Alexander, A Jew of the First Century, taught that there were two Adams. The first Adam is the body God shaped from the earth. The second Adam is the breath of life God breathed into the body. The first was from the earth while the secound is from heaven.A spiritual body is from heaven and so not su…[Read more]

Adam,You are arguing against more than one tenet when you argue against the tenet of original sin. The difficulty you thus face is what you state may be true about one but not true about another. Instead of arguing against the tenet of original sin you may instead seek to understand the argument that Scripture makes about why humans are bound to…[Read more]

Mike,You seem not to understand that you can legitimately understand the statement that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven in at least two ways. Irene,Scripture seems to state two things on this matter. One is they sleep in their grave, as with Daniel, and the other is that they converse and are subject either to torment or bliss, as in Jesus parable. A ghost is just a soul whose body has died. From what I understand it is just a shade of the person and not the whole person and so mu…[Read more]

George,God’s sons are his children through the spirit. His sons demonstrate they are his sons by their fruit which is faith. George,A son of god is a son of God’s Spirit as God is spirit, John 1:12-13, Romans 8:15, and Ephesians 1:5. We who have sinned are adopted as, and so are indirectly, sons by receiving and living by the Spirit after believing all of Jesus’ teachings on how to do so. Pierre,I already stated what being fully mature in Christ means when I stated “That is that like him you will at that time choose not to sin even though you are still tempted to the same degree you are now.” Jesus taught us how to receive and live by the spirit so that we can obey God’s command to righteous as God is righteous. We do that by faith.

Georg,If I understand you correctly then a soul is a. immaterial being that has the form of the human being’s body it was once housed in.
