To all,What I learned about the soul from the scriptures I shared with you yesterday is that it can be refreshed, in anguish, grieve, be bitter, delight, pant (thirst, yearn), be downcast, be disturbed, find rest.I also learned it can be taken along to a sinner’s fate.Today I will share more scriptures about the soul which come from the KJV i…[Read more]

Stu,There is a definitition of moron and it is not someone who believes dinosaurs existed with humans.  Perhaps you mean he is ignorant or in denial of the facts.   Still the most that can be said that there is no reliable evidence to support his hypothosis at this time.As for the conclusion of the argument made in Exodus Decoded I have my d…[Read more]

Adam,I like to use the scientific method with scripture and so am known to take a neutral position at times.  I disagree with Tim on this for reasons him and me have previously discussed.  My purpose was to point out that in getting to know God we become more informed about what scripture is actually teaching us.

Gene,Thank you! Here are some scriptures from the NIV that speak of the soul.Psalm 42:2My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?Psalm 42:5Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.Psalm 42:6My soul is downcast within me;…[Read more]

Pierre,I believe Jesus is King of Everything because of who God is and how Jesus spoke and acted. I look back and become informed about both him and God by what the prophets of old say.I speak of Jesus and the Spirit of Christ in the post I just made to karmarie.

karmarie(Shimmer),I question the assumption of Justin the Martyr that one of the three angels that visited Abraham near the great trees of Mamre was literally God, Genesis 18:1-5. First God is an invisible spirit which would mean that he would not be seen and second the people of the time period often referred to angels of God as God as they…[Read more]

To all,I was inspired to look up scriptures in the NIV that tell us what the soul does.  These are some of what I found as the list was longer than I expected.Psalm 26:9Do not take away my soul along with sinners, my life with those who are bloodthirsty,Psalm 23:3he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.Psalm 6:…[Read more]

Stuart,You are possibly correct that the opinion of any Jew could be biased in this case.  That is what peer review is about.  Exodus Decoded has been critisized both by biblical scholars and scientists.  I have not looked into it as yet.

To all,YHWH may simply mean “He is” in connection to his answer to Moses when the later asked what his name is.So there may be no uniques name for God.El as in Elohim means “god” from what I have come to understand.

Quote (t8 @ Feb. 12 2011,11:14)Interesting comment Kerwin.Sounds like the following:adam is the word for man(kind) but the first man was called Adam.Is this the same with God?That is what I have come to understand.

Adam,It is your knowledge about God that causes you not to believe Tim's claim that Jesus is God's litteral child.  Tim on the other hand seems to lack the same knowledge of God or his God is not the same God as yours. What knowledge if any do you lack of God?Why did God punish David's child with death for David's and Bathsheba's sin? What does…[Read more]

Mike Boll,I hear what you state and to my mind it makes sense though I am not sure it is scriptural. I do see where you could reach the conclusion that Adam and Eve became aware of sin from eating the fruit of the unique tree of the knowledger of good and evil. The one thing I do not see is how the lack of knowledge whether a deed is good or evil…[Read more]

Pierre,The B-attitudes are encouraging promises to those who truly make Jesus their Lord by obeying all he teaches. I do not disagree with you that it is our essential being that chooses to follow the lure of faith that God places into our life. This is why Jesus states blessed are they that hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be…[Read more]

Irene and Gene,I am going to illustrate where I get my understanding from scripture.Peter writes that he will soon put aside the tent of his body in 2 Peter 1:13-15. This reveals to me that the human body is only a tent for the essential human being. In reading of the spirit I am told that the fruit of a spirit can be haughtiness. It is true…[Read more]

karmarie(Shimmer),Currently we are discussing why one must believe Jesus is a human being as opposed to a spiritualy being.  I stated it is necessary to believe Jesus is human just like us in order to believe he was temted even as us but without sin.  This is because we must believe he has no advantage over us in his battles against sin that we o…[Read more]

T8,What you state about spirit, soul, and body has grabbed my attention. It has made me think of Jesus agreeing that God has always commanded us to Love him with all our heart, all our mind, and all our soul. I wonder if perhaps those have been misinterpreted and actually mean we should love God with all our soul, spirit, and body; or in other…[Read more]

Mike Boll,What God stated to Mosses is the one who sins is the one whose name will be blotted out of the Book of Life, Exodus 32:33.  Since that is the case we do not loose eternal life because of Adam’s or anyone else’s sins but our own.   You must consider that context before you can come to correctly understand what Paul is teaching in Roman…[Read more]

Stuart,Many Jews are secularist and or atheists.  The only Jews that are more sincere would be the most strict to scripture would be the either the Orthodox or Modern Orthodox sects of the Rabbinical tradition or the equivalent sect of other traditions.   Scientists in general have their biases and their private interpretations of the data.  I te…[Read more]

Quote (t8 @ Feb. 15 2011,03:40)Thanks Irene.God saves our soul and gives us a new spirit and body. That can only mean that we are the soul as that is the only part that is not replaced. Also, if the spirit and flesh is prompting/tempting me, then I cannot be either the spirit or the flesh, leaving the soul as the part that chooses to either follow…[Read more]

Adam,I likewise to not believe the first five were written by Mosses.  I tend to believe a scribe of his most likely did them, perhaps Joshua.   The books of Deuteronomy and Joshua seem to be written by the same author, which was most likely a scribe of Joshua's.   They first four books appear, to my eyes, to have different writing styles than th…[Read more]
