Gene,
Actually I was confused about the topic we are discussing.
I believe Jesus is the Word that comes out of God’s mouth, i.e. the Logos.
In him the word that comes out of God’s gains the attributes.
Those two concepts are somewhat different.
In a like manner we are taught God is love. He is love because he can only walk according to his…[Read more]

Gene,
Be careful as you may be straying into another topic and this one does not seem exhausted yet.
I am going to stick with the idea that the rock that Jesus’ church is based on is faith that he is the Christ, the Son of the living God. I can see where the topic you are straying into is related to that last title he bears.
Faith in Christ…[Read more]

Gene,
It is not the English definition but it may be close to what the Koine Greek means.
Lexicon at Blue Letter Bible.
- to commit adultery
to be an adulterer
to commit adultery with, have unlawful intercourse with another’s wife
of the wife: to suffer adultery, be debauched
A Hebrew idiom, the word is used of those who at a woman’s solicitation…kerwin replied to the topic What did Jesus actually say? in the forum Truth or Tradition 10 years, 1 month ago

What is you definition of adultery?

miia,
Marriage is forbidden except for the reason of sexual immorality. Why Mark and Luke did not mention that exception is beyond me but in Mark the question he was addressing is whether divorce should be allowed for any and every reason.
An incestuous relation is called fornication so Scripture’s definition differs from Googles.

T8,
As for the five kings/empires versus seven, that can be explained by the two empires predating the time of Daniel (Egypt & Assyria) which would not have been of significant at that time as God gave a vision of the future only, while Revelation appears to give us the full picture.
The only way that would work is if the Ottoman Empire was…[Read more]

AndrewAD,
Moses was the mediator of the Law and Jesus is the mediator of the new covenant.
Grace and truth would be the Spirit which can both be received and walked according to through faith in Jesus Christ.
The Law instead is God’s word the hearer must live by employing their own human effort.
That is why the old covenant is rendered…[Read more]

It may not have changed. It may be the some translators choose to use it loosely.

Miia,
The Koine Greek words are different and the one translated adultery it a direct translation literally means adultery. The other one translates to sexual uncleanliness that literally is equivalent to sexual immorality. Fornication may have literally meant sexual impurity at one time and the meaning changed over time or someone may have…[Read more]

Danny Dabbs,
1 John 2:22 does not actually apply to anyone except in the manner that all heretics preach a different Jesus than the real one. Every one here believes Jesus was conceived as a human being and so believes Jesus came in the flesh.
2 John 1:7 possibly should be translated as Jesus is currently coming in the flesh. That disagrees…[Read more]

My source for an example is Forests Not Equal When It Comes to Climate
From 1750 to 1850, roughly 190,000 square kilometres of Europe’s forest were cut down to for fuel and to clear land for agriculture. Forests have since rebounded on an area more than twice that size, but fast-growing conifers have replaced deciduous trees on roughly 633,000…

Miia,
I a have trouble with the words “makes her commit adultery” in Matthew as they imply another actions can make you guilty of sin which disagrees with Jesus’ words elsewhere. Some versions take in account my concern but I am not sure how justified they are to do so by the letter. I am confident he did mean that she would be the victim of…[Read more]

Jesus was speaking to those he assumed were believe about divorce between believers. Paul has different opinion about a believer married to an unbeliever.

Gene,
T8 already knows that you cannot have faith in Jesus Christ without faith in God and vise versa. The only difference you essentially have with him is what God and what Jesus you believe in. That is the same with many disagreements.

Be careful not to adapt God to the teachings of scientists as they can be and are sometimes wrong. Soft sciences are open to bias than hard science and anything dealing with the past is heavily into the soft sciences.

So if technically to you there is no way to know, then why do you teach a definite position on this?
I simply do not choose to take a definite position on this verse as it is prophecy which is symbolic by nature. It could either by the word of God concept or Jesus but as the word of God concept was made flesh in Jesus the difference is…[Read more]

AndrewAD,
There is a human being that was made Christ.
There is the word of God which comes out of God’s mouth and be which all things that have been created were created. It is the same word that was given to the children of Israel in the form of the Law and the Prophets and is not given in the form of the gospel of Christ.
That Word was…[Read more]
