Danny,
Hi Kerwin, “Do you believe Jesus did not have God’s Spirit before he was given it by God?”
No. He had the Spirit. John the Baptist was filled with the Spirit even before his birth. Luke 1:15
So, I see there is a difference between Infilling and Anointing.
FYI
The filling of John is the anointing to preach the good news, though his w…[Read more]

Nick,
Logic is more of mental tool than a fleshly (carnal) tool.
In Paul’s struggles it was is mind vs his flesh with his flesh being the strongest. He did not have the Spirit as that is more powerful than the mind.
The Spirit is not opposed to the physical aspect of flesh nor is it opposed to the mental aspect of the flesh.
It is opposed…[Read more]

Hi KW,
Rom 7
14 For we know that the Law is spiritual, but I am of flesh, sold into bondage to sin.
Do you deny this?
It is an old teaching that is called Total depravity or a few other names. It is teaching that though the Law itself is of the Spirit the humans it was given did not have the Spirit to live by and so lived by the…[Read more]

Nick,
Hi KW,
You use logic instead of revelation to defend your dogma.
Surely you know the Law is spiritual and the Jewish man Jesus fulfilled the law.
Or do you suggest that God giving the Law was a waste of time as men could never obey it?
I know but you do not or you would know it is not logic the Spirit is opposed to but flesh. That it is…[Read more]

Danny,
Kerwin, Ok, sorry I try to answer your questions. I was a litte bit too defensive.
Thanks, Ed J.
“and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove” Luke 3:22
I assume your answer is yes.
FYI
Nick believes God gave Jesus the Holy Spirit at that time as well.
I believe God gave Jesus his Spirit before Jesus had a cha…[Read more]

Ed,
I just posted a question to you before your response to Richard.
kerwin replied to the topic in the forum Preexistence 9 years, 11 months ago
Richard, Danny, and Ed;
Is it true that God gave Jesus his Spirit?
So as to not be a trick question consider these words of Jesus as he quoted Scripture.
Matthew 12:18Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
18 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew…

Somme would claim that since it is written ” the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters” that it had sex with the earth. There are ancient theologies that teach essentially that. That would be the union of Anu(heaven) and Ki(earth) in Sumerian theology.

Ed,
Anyone that exists in the form of God would see it not robbery to be equal to God as humility is an aspect of being in the form of God. They would also make themselves of no reputation and take on the form of a servant because that is what the humble do by nature.

Ed,
“when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman” (Gal 4:4)
“This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent” (John 6:29)He sent Jesus from his mother’s womb but his Spirit was given to him by God and it came from above.
Relevant clause
I will put my spirit upon him

Ed,
I can testify Jesus Christ is the human mediator who mediates between God and humanity. I was not given that position nor was anyone else. It is his alone.

Ed,
God sent forth his Son, made of a woman
You doubt that?
In context:Galatians 4:3-5Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: 4 but when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5 to redeem them that were…

Richard,
I have some technical difference of opinions with Gene and Nick on these issue but they seem to no tangible difference so I will express my understanding of John 1:1-14.
The word that comes out of God mouth and that is not a person was incarnated in the humanity of Jesus of Nazarene. He was conceived like other humans though the…[Read more]

Ed,
Jesus asked the question “how is he then his son” and Paul answers it “as of the body”.
Some foolishly make assumptions based on what is not said in Luke 20:41-44. It would be more understandable if Romans 1:3-4 did not answer Jesus’ question.
kerwin replied to the topic The Ordinary Jesus Brigade in the forum Truth or Tradition 9 years, 11 months ago
Ed,
Have you addressed these yet?
Ed,
Yes, Jesus is the Son of humanity as of his body and the Son of God as for the Spirit just as is testified in Romans 1:3-4.
Romans 1:3-4Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
3 concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; 4 and declared to…

t8,
Of course we are not perfect, so we will sin
Ye of little faith. Why don’t you all things are possible with God?
Hebrews 11:40Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

Hebrews 7:19Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

Richard,
“My Lord and my God!”
It is a statement of belief and response to Jesus’ question.
It is used like “Yawheh is God” but the conjunction complicates it by rendering the words vague if not taken in the correct written and unwritten context. It can refer to two different individuals or one individual. If it refers to two individuals the…[Read more]

Richard,
Mikeboll64 did not believe that Jesus was God though he did believe he preexisted.
Scripture actually states that Jesus humanity originated from Adam, who was himself created from God. (Matthew 1:1-16)
It also states that God gave him his Spirit (Matthew 12:18) which is the Spirit of adoption. (Romans 8:15)The idea that Jesus is God…[Read more]
