Princess,I have heard of prehistoric figures some believe represent goddesses but many beliefs have the great spirit in them. Any representative of such is not literal.

Ed,Yes, God commanded Abraham to sacrifice Isaac because God was proofing his faith. Had the angel not stopped Abraham then he would have killed his son. Even as he prepared to do it Abraham was aware that through Isaac he would become the father of many nations.

Mike,We do seem to agree on the whole but you seem to stress mighty as the meaning of elohim.My point is that Elohim is the ancient Hebrew word for god and not mighty. T,I presented the evidence and allowed it to speak for itself. Elohim = Theos and only Elohim is rooted in mighty. Both are translated to god in English. Mighty is an attribute of a god, no matter the language.
