I made two posts to you.  I was commenting that it is hard to not do evil when evil is done to you.  It is a test of a person’s heart.

The other post is that I pointed out that James instructed Christians to resist the devil after you said words that contradicted his instruction.  Do you think Paul preached a different gospel than James?

I have been  told you have to believe God will give you his strength so that you can resist temptation.

I have a friend who quit drug dependance through prayer, she couldn’t quit so gave to God to deal with, and it worked. We need to have faith for that to work.

I agree but I find it more difficult  to do though I pray.   It seems there is more to giving it to God than saying the words.

In my experience I find any temptation I choose to give into may become an addiction.  I do not know if that is true for all or it is just part of my nature.

Scripture does teach that is supposed to be the boss of the house but it also states that those that have authority are not to rule over their subjects but instead to be their servant, Mark 10:42-44.  This is also implied in the verse where husbands are instructed to love their wife.
