    I am praying for you.

I encourage you to think of the good things of God and what is pure. Our thoughts lead to actions and our actions lead to lifestyle and our lifestyle leads to our destiny.

    1 Thessalonians 4:7
For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.

However we all sin and when we do, we should ask for forgiveness with godly sorrow and he is just and faithful to forgive us.

    Hebrews 7:26
Such a high priest meets our need, one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.

I know how difficult it is being a guy with certain desires, but I encourage you to be strong and keep your mind on the things of God. Such thinking will lead your actions and will break the chains of sin. It does take time but you can get the victory.

    Philippians 1:6
being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

So keep your mind on God and take comfort in the fact that our High Priest to God, namely Jesus is interceeding to God on our behalf.

We shall be praying for you. I would like to give you this scripture to help you, ….. 1 Tim.4:12 ….." let no man despise his youth; but be thou an example of the belivers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity." ….. Beloved , trust in God for His forgiveness and He shall lead you beside the still waters. You won’t have to war no more against such adversary, because " Greater is He that is in you than he that is out in the world ". …….God Bless

I just want to remind all, that we have a covenant with God. So when we sin, we can be forgiven and God is more than able to forgive us everyday, for his mercies are new every morning.

We all struggle everyday with sin and the lusts of the flesh. Our only defence is to be lead by the Spirit, as whatever is not of faith is sin. So we must move in faith to overcome.

Even Paul the Apostle talks about his daily battle against the flesh. He concludes that being led by the Spirit is what pleases God.

    Brothers and Sisters in Christ

My son has been struggling with addiction for years. He is bi-polar which results in him self medicating with alcohol and substances. He had an episode this weekend here at our house involving an argument with his older brother. ( his older brother had had enough of his ranting and raving) So a fist fight broke out. Me and my husband intervened to pull them apart. I was mainly concerned to pull my older son off because he is fully capable of pulverizing my other son. My son that has emotional problems perceived that he was being attacked by both his brother and my husband. He ended up grabbing a knife from the sink, but immediately put it in the back of his pants. There is more detail concerning the call to the police in the midst of it all, etc…but I will leave that out for now as it would make this post seem to be unending. Long story short (which probably WON’T be short) – my middle son (with bi-polar) has had incidents prior to this where we had to call the police. On those occasions, he had been taken to the behavioral health part of the hospital. One of the officers said this time we had a choice, as the family, to decide where he should go – the hospital or jail. Well, another officer that had little concern for my son’s mental health issues decided to take him to jail, arresting him for assault with a deadly weapon, etc..

As of this very moment he hasn’t been officially charged, but the d.a. has until 5pm wed. Jan 21 (PST) to file. I have prayed and fasted these past days and came across an attorney that seems to be willing to help. He was deputy d.a. for 13 years (a prosecutor) but became a criminal defense Atty. A year ago at a law firm. He told me he knows all the judges and lawyers, etc.. He is legit. I feel that God put him in my path. He even told me to not worry about the cost at this point – which makes me believe he will be willing to work with me in that dept. That was yesterday I spoke with him.

Dear Brothers and Sisters I beg for your prayers in this matter. Please, please, PLEASE pray for my son Sebastian….He does not need jail…he needs the hospital and treatment for his addictions. He was under the influence at the time and things only escalated because my older son was confrontational to him…which took it to a higher level. He did not out of the blue pick up a knife and threaten anyone; it was only after he perceived that he was being attacked and beat up by his dad and brother (he was intoxicated at the time and on top of his mental illness he was not in a right frame of mind to see things as they really were)

Sebastian knows that the evil one wants to tear him down through addictions, etc…and he and I talk about Christ and God and scripture all the time. He wants to do good…he wants out of the darkness. But every time he makes even a little bit of progress, the evil one sees to it to tempt him. We could have an in-depth discussion about God and Christ and he has a grasp on the Truth, and verbally acknowledges that that is what he wants..that he WANTS to get to the place where he will give himself fully to God and Christ- and then within that hour he has stumbling blocks(bad influence “friends”) either calling him or knocking on our door!

The evil one is set on trying to destroy Sebastian. I also feel that because I am in Christ, the evil one is using the emotional pain I feel for the torment that has befallen upon my son, to ALSO try and destroy me/my faith. What’s happening to my son is also an attempt to bring me down, as well.

I ask that you please pray for Sebastian’s and for my family. And please also pray God and Christ inspire and give ability to this attorney by the name of Steven S., that he will find it in his heart to help Sebastian.

    Thank you.
    Your Sister in Christ

    To whomever is concerned,

I find being a slave of the desires of the flesh is a great pain. I am told that the way out is through faith in Jesus Christ. Any other way is incomplete.

In my mind I want to be free but yet my flesh drives me to do what my society and my God tell me what is wrong. I pray but it often seems my prayers fall on deaf ears because I remain a slave to the desires of the flesh. I can make excuses for my behaviors, confess my behaviors, or take medicines and yet they remain.

Is there a way to truly overcome and what is it?

    @Kerwin,
I’m sorry for your terrible struggle. I have wondered if hypnosis would help a person gets a repulsion for whatever they are addicted to or healing in some manner through the method of hypnosis by a Christian therapist. Check out these sites/books:

Of course, admitting that there is a problem is the first step, so…good for you. I pray that you find freedom from your destructive behavior in the name of Jesus.

the faith in Christ is the truth , what is the truth ? the truth is living what you know for sure that what is true ,apply it without a doubt ,for truth is the way to God and his son ;no prayers can help anyone if the person himself does not care for God’s truth ,

Jesus said the true worshiper must worship (totally depend on God ) in spirit (with all his mind and heart and soul and strength) and in truth (ALL AS TO BE DONE FOR AND WITH GOD THROUGH cHRIST SACRIFICE )ALL THIS WE SHOULD ALL DO TO RECEIVE FROM GOD WHAT WE NEED FOR HE LOVED US FIRST ,

you practice this your personal life will become a living prayer to your God ,I know I been there ,all is in your hands even his blessing TRUST GOD

I would also would like some prayer.

Yesterday my 4 (nearly 5) year old son fell backwards down a steep wooden staircase. I saw the whole thing. He must have thought the door was closed and went to lean back on it. He rolled over backwards twice down the hard wooden steps. In the last roll his neck and back of his head hit the soft carpet below, but he was going quite fast and the momentum forced his body to do an awkaward backward roll placing stress on his neck. Fortunately he was able to walk and was responsive, but then he started to throw up. So we took him to hospital and he stayed over night under observation. He checked out this afternoon, but now he is back in hospital because he is throwing up again and is lacking in energy and is not his usual responsive self. We called an ambulance and they thought it best to take him back to hospital. He is on his way with my wife now.

A lot of things could explain the symptoms such as broken sleep last night as he had to be woken periodically and generally the body wants to take it easy after a trauma like that. But please pray that he will make a full recovery and that the doctors will make any right decisions that need to be made, such as any scans that should be done.

Much appreciated. Thanks in advance. His name is Liam and he is very precious.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think we can change the flesh one bit. It is corrupt and is perishing. But Christ never came to save our flesh, but our souls.

The way out is to build up the spiritual man. To have our soul take its commands from the Spirit of God and not the flesh.

I have addictions myself. One being drugs. My flesh craves such things, but fortunately I am not under its yoke and have not been for a very long time. But I know that my flesh has not changed one iota. But there is another part of me and that part is born from above. It makes me desire to please God and is often quenched when the desires of the flesh claim temporary victory over me. I guess I can take some comfort in the fact that I even care about this because if it was not there, then sin would have its way with me all the time probably.

Paul teaches us that anything that is not of faith is sin. And therein is the secret. We cannot sin and do things of faith at the same moment. We are doing one or the other. So we should spend our lives doing the things of faith for in those times, sin does not have us. If we run the race to win, then we will constantly serve God and one of the side-effects of that, is less time to sin.

I have demonstrated this in my own life, but not to the degree that I think I can. I know I can do better. It is written somewhere that idle hands sin. I could not find the exact scripture, but I noticed that if you type in idle into scripture, it is often mentioned with sin and sinful activities such as gossip, destruction, etc.

Our brother Paul worked tirelessly for the kingdom and gospel. I guess our brother knew the truth, and that is to get busy doing the things of God and you will not give the flesh a chance. Of course my view of this is if you make this a habit, then you will get better at it. Not all habits are bad, but we can replace bad habits with good ones.

Lightingup…….IT IS ESENTIAL YOU GET Sebastian away from whats influencing him, his so-called friends are a big part of the poblem. They will continually drag him back into his sinful condition, drugs destroy not only the mind butthe body also. I had that problem many years ago with my son, itried everything i could think of but nothing worked, so i took it to our heavenly Father in prayer, under great destress, knowing i was losing my only son to his drug aditction, i had done everything i know of, without secess. I besought him for help with tears and great destress of loss. I beged him for help because i simply did not know what to do, so i put it completely in his hands.

The very next day i ran into a contractor friend of my, and ask him if he had any openings, and he said he did, but it would require him to move to another city about 60 miles from where we lived. I didn’t realize it at the time but that was exactly what my son needed, it was to get away from those influencing him. This brake from these bad influiences gave the help my son needed, to adjust his life in a postive way. Influences especially in a young persons life, has a great effect on them and their behavior.

Remember what Jesus said about the unclean spirit that leaves the man and comes back with back with seven more more , the last state of that man was worse then the first. You see how more wrong influences only makes matter worse. So it is best if you can get your son away from those wrong influences. Imo.

My son today is a very responsible man, with a wife and a son of his own, he is the head electrician for the city of Monterey Ca., and has his own contractor license also. So with God’s help all thing are possible.

I hope and pray God the Father will intervene in your sons life, sometime we simply have to put it all his hands, after we have did all we can, we need to move aside and watch him work his saving POWER. This applies to our own lives also. IMO.

peace and love to you and yours. ……………………gene

Kerwin…..What you are experiencing is what we all are also experiencing, remember the words of the apostle Paul. “For the good i would do, i don’t do , but the evil i would not do that i do, “O” WRETCHED MAN THAT I AM, who can deliever me from this BODY OF DEATH,” he THANKED GOD, that through JESUS CHRIST he “WOULD BE” delivered., no that he was yet delivered, but he “WOULD BE” delivered. We to shall aso be delivered, when our redemption comes at the appearing of Jesus our lord, or better, our brother Jesus the christ..

So with our mindes we do serve the laws of GOD, but with our bodies the law of sin and death. But thanks be to GOD, WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERES, THROUGH HIM WHO LOVED US, AND GAVES HIMSELF FOR US ALL.

peace and love to you and yours. …………..gene

Thank you so very much for your prayers…you have no idea what it means to me <3

    @t8

I will pray for Liam and for your family. God heals through Christ and I will pray for healing for your little one. I can imagine how precious Liam is to you and your family, because I feel the same about my children. Scripture says that “all things are possible through Christ” – this is a comfort, brother, which I, myself, am clinging to – especially now.

Regarding your other post concerning addictions of the flesh that you have battled; I , too, know this struggle – Not the same as yours, but just as destructive. Faith in God and Christ has effectively stifled this behavior in me. The more I grow in Christ the more strength I have to resist my temptations.

Praise be to God and to His Christ!

You have probably realized it by now, but your post that you addressed to me was meant for @Grasshopper. I’m glad that your son was given the victory!

I have 5 children and today my youngest turned 18 so, in a sense my husband and I have “graduated” to another chapter…no more young children! The LORD has richly blessed us and has spared us great difficulties and heart ache and also gotten us through some strongholds. Praise be to our LORD.

    God bless!
