It is literally impossible to teach that Scripture teaches of either eternal life or eternal torment as the Koine Greek language does not have a word for eternal. Any translator translating Koine Greek wording to eternal must therefore be using some type of reasoning to come to the conclusion that the words mean eternal.

People eyes can be opened to Scripture before they receive the Spirit. The disciples did not have the Spirit because the new covenant was not yet established. Afterwards they appeared to gain more understanding.

Sheol is the Jewish name and the Greeks call their version Hades. The similarity is close enough that Sheol is translated to the Koine Greek Hades. It is interesting for me to look up the similarities of teaching but not surprising they exist as the Tower of Babel story teaches us that the humanity was divided by God into different languages.
