I never said with any certainty that Jesus was the only true God. I was simply left wondering because I found myself loving Jesus with my whole heart, mind and soul.

That is a good point to establish.

None of them are called the “gospel according to …”. They are accounts of eyewitnesses or those with access to eye witnesses to Jesus’ mortal life and a short time afterwards up to the time he ascended to heaven.

The question is whether or not you believe the writers or their sources are credible.

The trinity is very hard to argue. A logos type argument only works with those whom lack knowledge. That leaves either a pathos or ethos and the later requires that the speaker is regarded as credible by the hearers. Pathos is the best way but it takes skill.

That reasoning is flawed because the word “was” is a form of “be” and so the statement “the Word was God” has three possible basic interpretations not to mention the variation within those possibilities. The same with the statement “the word was made flesh”.
