Nick,
Even today “in the flesh” means physically present. Some Jews and early Christians believed there were three basic creations mention in Genesis 1. The first creations is the physical testified by the first use of the word “created” in Genesis 1:1. The second creation was the animal bore witness by the second use of the word “created” in…[Read more]

Tonya,
God does not have plans, He purposes according to His will. Plans fail, God does not (Isaiah 55:11-12).
I think your definition of plan is not the same as the one I or the NIV uses.

T8,
All physical things have a beginning of course. But that is the shell. It is not life. Not the eternal life that was with the Father.
Don’t mix physical and spirit. Is it God’s power to send someone that is with him to partake in flesh for our sakes?
Did Jesus come in the flesh. If so, then what exactly is Jesus if he has flesh?
1) The…[Read more]

I listen to other views which is why I am here but my attention span is relatively short as I am easily distracted.

“And said to them, ‘The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath’”.
It was made for a section of humanity but not all of them while is chief son of that section, and through Adam all humanity. God literally states the Sabbath is a sign between him and them with the words…[Read more]

Nick,
I have no doubt it occurred but I have heard no solid case that Scripture gives an account of it occurring. I can guess it occurred on Pentecost or within less then a few days of that time as that range of time was foretold.
kerwin replied to the topic in the forum Is baptism needed for salvation? 10 years, 4 months ago
Nick,
Nothing is either true or false unless that it is proved by Scripture. Look for more evidence to support or break the case you are making but listen to the Spirit of God.

Nick,
Washing precedes the baptism of the Spirit except when God judges them already clean
That hypothesis is supported by circumstantial evidence but does that mean it is true?
kerwin replied to the topic in the forum Is baptism needed for salvation? 10 years, 4 months ago
Nick,
Hi KW,
What else do you doubt?
Must truth be tested against your perceptions?
An arrogant response since Paul did not make the same response when the Bereans chose to test his words by what Scripture states. If it is important then it is provable by Scripture.

Nick,
Do you believe Jesus is implying in Jn 15.3 that his sacrifice is not needed for them to be born of Spirit?
kerwin replied to the topic in the forum Is baptism needed for salvation? 10 years, 4 months ago
Nick,
But their baptism in the Spirit was at pentecost.
A nice hypothesis but how do we test if it is true or false?
kerwin replied to the topic in the forum Is baptism needed for salvation? 10 years, 4 months ago
Terrarica,
You are assuming that the words “receive the Holy Spirit” means that Jesus baptized them with the Holy Spirit but it is not what is written. It is as good a hypothesis as any other but how do we test if it is true or false?

Nick,
I believe you assume that Peter and the other 120 disciples were immersed in the name of Jesus as well even though it only states that those that were converted were added to their number that day.
It is not written that they were but does that mean they were not?
kerwin replied to the topic in the forum Is baptism needed for salvation? 10 years, 4 months ago
Nick,
As I already said, I assume they were given that blessing but Acts does not literally tell that is the case.
kerwin replied to the topic Upon this rock, Jesus Christ built his Church in the forum Truth or Tradition 10 years, 4 months ago
Nick,
Don’t confuse and actual rock with a Spiritual rock or actual water with Spiritual water.
The children of Israel were given the written word of God in order to consume the Spiritual water and food but a better way exists for those under the new covenant.

I am not going beyond Scripture which is not the same as “baptism in Spirit being a mystery to me”.

Nick,
The fruit of the Spirit is summed up as love even though a fruit is also love.
The fruit is more important than the gifts even though Luke seems to emphasize the gifts in the book of Acts.
