Does anyone here agree that if you physically beat a child, or abuse them as a child, they are likely to develop a mental illness? And of you do agree, how would this be related to demons?

Why does cognitive behavioural therapy work so well?If these talk therapy's work, to remove the (mental illness / demon) why would we think it is a demon?Is it just the demon playing along some times?
