Sounds right to me! If we understand it otherwise, then IMO we’re reading an account about Someone with a personality disorder, and talking to Himself.

Well, since we’re living in a society that for the most part has, we just need to look around…. People are more selfish than ever before; there is a higher percentage of  people suffering from mental & emotional scars than ever occurred in the past; family life, in many instances, is crap…which is one cause leading to those scars. — 2Timothy 3:1-5

And the advancements we’ve seen in technology these past 100 years, tend to mask just how bad things are. Many say, “Oh things aren’t that bad; we’re living longer than ever before!”
Yeah, but what quality of life is it, when you fear your neighbors?

    Think about it.

We need the “Kingdom” to “come”(Matthew 6:9,10), and to hear the voice from that “throne” say what is recorded at Revelation 21:3,4!!

I agree. Another line of evidence (sorry if you posted it, I missed it):

God told Adam concerning the tree, “in the *day* you eat from it, you will die.”
They didn’t…..that *day* was centuries later.

Using “day” this way as an unspecified period of time, doesn’t contradict the Hebrew definition of “Yohm” ; rather, the context supports it.

Your title is a little misleading

You are really asking if they have a consensus on anything, right? A shared belief in common?

    (That’s a good question.)
Nope, I really don’t think so.

But the disunity found in Christendom, more than any other foundational religion, to me, actually is evidence that it began as the way to God.

Consider: how many sects are there of Judaism? 60, maybe?
What about Islam? Around the same?

    Christendom? 33,000!!

Way off the scale compared to the others.

Again IMO, this just verifies the truthfulness of 1 John 5:19 & Revelation 12:9 …. there is an enemy of God and His truth. And what better way to hide a genuine article, than to make literally 1,000’s of others, like the proverbial ‘needle in a haystack’?

But a person need not have to examine every stinkin’ one. Like w/ counterfeit money, searching for the genuine article, you only need to know what the real one looks like. And Jesus Himself gave the identifying mark at John 13: 34-35.

You see, it’s not necessarily the teachings we need to look for, but their actions….their love for people. In imitation of Christ, such a love would be observed to transcend all barriers: political, racial, national, cultural, etc.  — Acts of the Apostles 10:34-35

It would even – you might say ‘especially’ – transcend conflicts and war!  Really, how could a Christian obey Jesus’ command at Matthew 5:44, if they did fight and kill?

That has far-reaching implications, doesn’t it?

it’s no wonder Jesus said that His followers would be “hated” by the world….. few, though, are willing to take such an unpopular stance, incurring the worlds hatred.

Now… look for a group that shows that kind of love.
